The official patch notes for Patch 1.1 of Genshin Impact are here. We will tell you what is included in the first major update.
It won’t be long before the release of the first major update in Genshin Impact. Patch 1.1 brings many new content and improvements that players have been wishing for in recent weeks. The story will also progress further and new characters will be available. Some can be earned through gameplay, others must be obtained through the “Wishes” system.
We will reveal to you what the highlights of the update from November 11th are and have the official patch notes prepared for you afterward.
The Highlights from Patch 1.1
New Characters: Some new characters can be played in Genshin Impact. These are:
- Zhongli, a Geo user
- Childe, a hydro user with a bow
- Xinyan with a claymore and pyro element
- Diona with a bow and cryo energy
By the way, Childe (Tartaglia) is the first in the banner. The chance to obtain him is increased in the banner, as well as the chance to get these 4-star characters: Diona, Beidou, and Ningguang.
The two characters Xinyan and Zhongli are probably only in the next banner.
New Quest Series in Liyue: The main story in Liyue continues. After the premature ending, it finally continues, and we learn what happened to the Geo Archon and what machinations are behind the events in the harbor of Liyue.
New Reputation System: For Liyue and Mondstadt, there is now a reputation system. You can reach different reputation levels in the cities and thus unlock new bonuses. This might include a reduced price at the merchant, but also new cosmetic glider options or alchemy recipes.
Improvements to the Resin System: The maximum resin limit is slightly increased, so you can save more resin before you have to spend it. At the same time, there is the possibility to transform resin into “Condensed Resin,” allowing you to improve the rewards from the Elements and Spheres. You can then spend 40 resin to receive double the amount of rewards. This saves time and allows you to “stack” resin to spend a lot at once on one day.
However, criticism of the resin system remains.
Fate points for everyone: Lastly, there is a small compensation for all players because the servers will be offline for several hours to deploy the patch. Anyone who has reached Adventure Rank 5 can draw 300 Fate points from their messages after maintenance. This can be used to buy wishes or refill original resin.

1. New Characters
“The Count – Tartaglia (Hydro)” (5 stars)
◇ The last among the Elves of the Fatui, known as the Count, with great successes on the battlefield.
“Cute Mix – Diona (Cryo)” (4 stars)
◇ A young woman who carries non-human blood within her. She is also the extremely popular owner of the tavern “Cat’s Tail”.
◆ The action wish “Farewell, Winter City” is available from the update to version 1.1 until 2020-12-01 15:59:59. The probability of drawing the limited 5-star character “The Count – Tartaglia (Hydro)” as well as the 4-star characters “Cute Mix – Diona (Cryo)”, “Uncrowned Queen of the Seas – Beidou (Electro)”, and “Hidden Moon – Ningguang (Geo)” increases significantly!
◆ The character trial event “Test Run” is available from the update to version 1.1 until 2020-12-01 15:59:59. You can attempt a specific dungeon with a pre-set party that includes the character you want to try out. After successfully completing a challenge, you even receive rewards for it!
“Visitor Among Mortals – Zhongli (Geo)” (5 stars)
◇ A mysterious guest at the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, who has amassed an incredible amount of knowledge.
“Blazing Music – Xinyan (Pyro)” (4 stars)
◇ The girl with the stormiest taste in music in all of Liyue. With her music and passionate singing, she defies preconceived notions.
* The characters “Visitor Among Mortals – Zhongli (Geo)” and “Blazing Music – Xinyan (Pyro)” will appear in later event wishes.
2. New Weapons
“Catalyst – Chains of This World” (5 stars)
◇ A stone lock that keeps long-ago memories sealed. After endless transformations, it reveals its true power.
◆ The action wish “Divine Work” is available from the update to version 1.1 until 2020-12-01 15:59:59. The probability of drawing the limited 5-star weapons “Bow – Skywing” and “Catalyst – Chains of This World” increases significantly
“Polearm – Rainbow Piercer” (5 stars)
◇ A polearm that can pierce everything and everyone. When swung in the air, one might think they see traces of its cuts.
“Claymore – Rough Sword” (5 stars)
◇ A great sword that can drive away evil spirits and humans alike. It seems to have no sharp edge yet possesses divine power.
* The weapons “Polearm – Rainbow Piercer” and “Claymore – Rough Sword” will appear in later event wishes.
“Polearm – Royal Hunt Spear” (4 stars)
◇ A spear once wielded by one of the old aristocrats of Mondstadt, cherished and cared for by him. It has never seen the light of day, yet remains incredibly sharp.
* You can exchange Star Glitter for the weapon “Polearm – Royal Hunt Spear” at the merchant.
3. New Storyline
a) New Archon Quest
◇ You meet the mysterious messenger Ganyu at the Three Cup Rumble, who claims to have come at Ningguang’s behest, and invites you to the Jade Chamber, a palace that floats in the sky.
Along with Paimon, you head to Tianheng Mountain, from where you can see the Jade Chamber in the distance.
◆ With the update to version 1.1, the Archon Quest Chapter I – Act 3 “A Rising Star” is also available. Complete a series of quests to receive Fate Points, weapon enhancement materials, character EXP materials, and other rewards!
b) New Legend Quests
◇ According to the Millelith, several eyewitness accounts have confirmed the presence of Ruin Guards in the area, even though this is far beyond their usual action radius. After a few investigations, you must realize that these Ruin Guards are nothing more than a child’s toys …
◆ With the update to version 1.1, the Legend Quest “Chloppi’s Departure” from Monoceros Caeli – Act 1 is available.
Complete a series of quests to receive Fate Points, weapon enhancement materials, character EXP materials, and other rewards!
◆ Later, the Legend Quest “Sal Flore” from Historia Antiqua – Act 1 will also be available.
c) New World Quests
◆ New World Quests: “The Matters of the Adventurers’ Guild,” “Necessary Measures,” “Valuable Words,” “Changchang’s Little Friend,” “The Secret of Nantianmen,” “A Poem to That City,” “Unflagging Research”
◆ Complete the quests to receive Mora, character EXP materials, and other rewards!
4. New Events
Main event of the version “Distant Stars”
◇ Strange meteorites fall upon Teyvat, bringing with them a rare sleeping sickness. People caught in a deep slumber, mysterious dreams, unknown stars … The crisis draws nearer!
◆ Availability: 2020-11-16 10:00:00 to 2020-11-30 03:59:59
◆ Rules: During the event period, you can complete specific quests and finish the challenge “Star of Destiny” to obtain “Power of the Waning Stars” and “Essence of the Waning Stars”!
◆ Rewards: Exchange the Power of the Waning Stars and the Essence of the Waning Stars at the event merchant for materials for character ascension, Wisdom of Heroes, Mystic Enhancement Ore, materials for talent improvement, the Crown of Wisdom, and other rewards!
Complete “Princess Pact” to obtain the character “Princess of Condemnation! – Fischl (Electro)”!

5. New Functions
a) City Reputation
◇ From Adventure Level 25 and after completing the respective quest, city reputation will be unlocked.
◆ City reputation is currently available for the regions Mondstadt and Liyue.
Conditions for unlocking reputation in Mondstadt: Complete the prologue – Act 1 of the Archon quest “The Stranger Who Caught the Wind”.
Conditions for unlocking reputation in Liyue: Complete Chapter 1 – Act 2 of the Archon quest “The Farewell Visit”.
◆ You can learn more about the new bounties and requests from residents at the logistics officer of Ordo Favonius Hertha and the secretary of the Liyue General Affairs Council Yu, and accept World Explorations, Mondstadt Quests, or Liyue Quests to increase your reputation.
◆ Once your reputation level increases, special features for the respective city will be unlocked and you can receive recipes, crafting blueprints for gadgets, name cards, gliders, and other rewards.
b) Exploration Progress
Zoom out on the map far enough to see the exploration progress for a specific area. Open chests, find Oculi, unlock teleport points, and more to increase your exploration progress for the respective area.
c) Handbook
Collect information in your handbook about equipment, crafted items, geography, books, and introductions.
d) Character Handbook
A new character handbook has been added.
6. More New Content
a) Gameplay
◆ New purchase options for recipes:
Restaurant Wanmin: “Striped Trio”;
Wangshu Inn: “Bamboo Soup with Meat Filling”;
◆ New achievements such as “Challenger – Series 2”;
◆ New items to collect: Bamboo Shoots, Goldfish;
◆ New monster: strange Hilichurl.
b) Settings
◆ It will now be possible to customize keyboard controls and gamepad handling: through “Paimon Menu > Settings > Input Device” you can select a function and assign it any key.
◆ Under “Settings > Graphics” there are the following new options: Volumetric Fog, Reflection, Blooming, Mass Density, Other Players’ Special Effects.
◆ Under “Settings > Other” there are the following new options: Smart Combat Camera, Standard Camera Distance;
c) System
◆ A function to lock equipment has been added: Locked equipment cannot be used for enhancement or refinement.
◆ For multiplayer mode, a function to report other players has been introduced.
