The action online RPG Genshin Impact is getting new content with Update 1.6. While the new region Inazuma is not included yet, there is now a new leak showing how the ruler of Inazuma, the Electro Archon Baal, might look.
The Japan-inspired Inazuma is set to be the next major expansion for Genshin Impact. Not much is known about the new area yet, aside from some official screenshots and a few leaks that we now know about.
Leaks now show the first pictures of the Electro Archon Baal. Baal is one of the 7 god-like rulers of the world of Genshin Impact, along with Venti and Zhongli. Each Archon is associated with a specific element: Baal represents the Electro element.

Leak shows first images from the story featuring the Electro Archon Baal
What are these images? They are artworks from the story. We already know the style of this representation from the previous story of Genshin Impact. Some story segments are told through a combination of still images and moving images, dramatically underscored.
What can be seen? In the images, Baal is depicted with long hair, a flowing robe, and at least in one image, with a sword. This at least suggests that Baal could be a melee character for Genshin in the future. So far, all Archons have been playable characters in Genshin Impact.
A well-known Electro character with a one-handed weapon is Keqing from Liyue.

Baal is considered a selfish ruler of the land of Inazuma
Who is Baal? Baal is one of the seven rulers of Teyvat, the world of Genshin, and is described by others as selfish and self-assured. She is also referred to as the “Raiden Shogun.” There are many similarities between Inazuma and historical Japan.
This is how Zhongli describes Baal: “Seven ideals for seven gods, and of these, eternity is closest to heaven.”
Baal claims to be “closest to heaven” and refers to herself as the “noblest and most outstanding of all in this world.” She never speaks on her own behalf; instead, others always speak about her:
- Zhongli, who speaks about his colleague
- or fleeing individuals from Inazuma, whom you can meet in the port city of Liyue.
The NPC Atsuko describes Baal as a “predatory samurai,” who has driven the ancient spirits of Inazuma into the forests. Furthermore, she is said not to rule personally, but instead the entity Inazuma Bakufu rules as a sovereign.
When will Inazuma and Baal arrive? There are currently no official statements on this. Many had hoped that the new region would arrive with Update 1.6, but that will not be the case. Now some hope that Inazuma will at least arrive with Update 1.7. The update is likely to be released sometime in July 2021.
At least we already know from a character leak about the Ayaka and Yoimiya banner, which is supposed to bring two characters from Inazuma to Genshin Impact.
