Patch 2.4 of Genshin Impact is entering the 2nd banner phase this evening, January 25th, bringing familiar faces back into the game for 3 weeks: Zhongli and Ganyu. But is it worth spending your precious saved Primogems on them? MeinMMO reveals it to you.
Zhongli and Ganyu are among the top characters in Genshin Impact, available to you in various teams. They also rank among the top 10 most used heroes in the Spiral Abyss, the endgame dungeon of the game (via spiralabyss.org).
Additionally, the Lantern Rite Festival starts today, welcoming you with several events. Through these, you will receive valuable additional Primogems.
The extra Primogems could benefit you if you are interested in Ganyu, Zhongli, or one of the future characters.
Zhongli is a great supporter with the strongest shield
Why is Zhongli worth it? Despite the nearly 50 characters in Genshin Impact, Zhongli is still considered the best support and especially the best shielder in the game.
Based on his own HP, he creates a shield that protects the active character of the team from damage. Zhongli’s shield is the best in Genshin so far due to its duration and strength.
If you already own Zhongli, his constellations can also be worth it. You unlock these as soon as you pull a copy of him. To deal more passive damage, Constellation 1 could already pay off, as it allows you to summon one more pillar with his elemental skill.
The 2nd constellation even grants all characters on the field a protective shield from Zhongli as soon as he uses his special ability. This makes him even more valuable in co-op.
Ganyu is one of the best archers
Why is Ganyu worth it? The cryo archer deals high damage at long range. Whether you are a good shooter or not – with her fully charged shot, Ganyu will hit as several icicles will rain down from the targeted spot thereafter.
This ability also works well against multiple enemies at once. With her elemental skill, Ganyu can distract the enemies while continuing to fire arrows at them. Additionally, her special ability deals high area damage.
Ganyu is regarded as one of the strongest archers and certainly won’t disappoint you as a strong main DPS in the team. Her constellations further enhance her damage potential.
If you started playing after January 2021, this is your first chance to get this 5-star character. She is the character who has gone the longest without a rerun. So, it is uncertain when she will next appear in the game.
The 4-star characters in both rerun banners are also quite impressive
Who else is coming? In addition to the two 5-stars, as always, three 4-stars will be included that you can obtain from the banners. They can also be quite worthwhile.
Particularly, the 4-star character Xingqiu is one of the best sub-DPS in the game. With his Rain Swords, he can not only deal damage to enemies over time, but he also heals you when they disappear. Ganyu can continuously freeze enemies with him, preventing their advance or attack.
Beidou and Yanfei are also strong main DPS units, capable of dealing significant damage in certain teams. While Beidou needs a bit of help from other heroes, Yanfei can take down enemies with her strong pyro attacks on her own.
When is it better to save your Primogems? If you already have Ganyu and/or Zhongli and aren’t looking for constellations, it can definitely be worth saving. With Patch 2.5, Genshin Impact has already announced the character Yae Miko as a new playable figure.
