In China, a Genshin Impact event has to be canceled because it attracted too many fans to a Pizza Hut. They wanted merchandise of the characters Eula and Amber, but ultimately the police came.
Through the collaboration with Pizza Hut, fans of Genshin Impact were able to purchase physical merchandise in the store. There were mugs, plates, and extremely rare mousepads of the characters Eula and Amber. Here you can find the best characters from the anime RPG.
The collaboration also offers digital rewards. These include a special camera, a stand for the Serenitea Pot, in-game dishes, and a lot of Mora, the in-game currency in Genshin Impact.
Apparently, the developers HoYoverse underestimated how popular the RPG is and how many people would show up at the event. Even two years after the release, Genshin Impact is in demand and is currently being considered the most expensive game ever developed.
In the video you can see the new area Sumeru:
Within a short time, the restaurant became filled and had to be evacuated by the police for safety reasons. Similar crowd events presumably occurred in other “Pizza Hut” locations across China.
The reddit user Fabuloso81 photographed the event and shared it in the Genshin Impact subreddit:
You can see a crowd blocking the entrance to Pizza Hut. In the second image, there is a sign on the door, next to which a police officer is now standing.
Last year there was a similar incident at KFC. HoYoverse launched an event where players could receive special wings. This event also had to be canceled by the police because too many fans showed up.
What do you think about the situation? Would something like this happen in Germany as well if the developers were to start a Genshin Impact event? Can you understand why fans are so keen on merchandise? Or would you rather stay comfortably at home and have pizza delivered? Feel free to write it to us in the comments here on MeinMMO!
