In Genshin Impact a new event has started, where you can obtain the 4-star character Diona without draws and Primogems. We explain to you how this works.
This is Diona: The character Diona arrived in Genshin Impact with patch 1.1 in November 2020.

In Mondstadt, Diona is famous for her cocktails and drinks. The young bartender can mix delicious drinks like no other and is celebrated by the townsfolk for it, which she does not like at all. Because actually, Diona cannot stand alcohol.
Her goal was actually to ruin the reputation of Mondstadt’s wine industry by serving terrible drinks in taverns. But her plan backfired when it turned out that she has a magical talent and her drinks always taste great, regardless of what she mixes together.
The event “Energy Guide Disk”
If you want to get Diona without spending money or hard-earned Primogems, you can complete the event “Energy Guide Disk” for that. It started on April 30 and will continue until May 17.
During the event, you can farm items which you can then exchange for Diona at a special merchant. The merchant will disappear on May 24. You can only receive Diona from him once and cannot grind for multiple constellations of her.
These are the requirements: To accept the quest for the event, you must have at least Adventure Rank 20.
Here’s how to get Diona: Start the quest for the event “Energy Guide Disk – Introduction” in its event overview and you will receive the item Energy Guide Disk. Investigation points will now appear on your map where you will find fragments of the Irminsul fruit.
Interacting with the fear will trigger a combat scenario, where you must defeat monsters within a certain time frame. It’s best to destroy all transformation stones in the vicinity beforehand, as they enhance the monsters. Otherwise, the fights could get tough if you do not have a strong team. Afterwards, you will receive the fruit fragment and other rewards like Primogems, Mora, and experience books.
You can now insert the fragments of the Irminsul fruit into your Energy Guide Disk. They provide bonuses to your characters but also consume the resource Drive Force. Afterwards, a sphere will be unlocked that you need to complete to access the fruit fragment data.
Once you have completed the challenge in a sphere, you will unlock the distorted version of that sphere, where you can master further challenges and gather fruit fragment data.
To exchange Diona at the merchant, you need 1,000 of these data.
Diona is a strong supporter with Cryo abilities
How good is Diona? Currently, Diona is considered one of the best support characters in the game. With her elemental skill, she not only deals damage but also generates shields. The shields also grant the active character the Cryo effect and overwrite other elemental effects.
Her ultimate ability is useful on several levels:
- She deals Cryo damage and places an AoE on the battlefield that deals Cryo damage to enemies every 2 seconds for 12 seconds
- The same AoE heals the HP of your characters on the field
- The Cryo element of the ability provides a good foundation for elemental burst that can be triggered by your DPS character
Moreover, it is relatively easy to create a Free2Play build for Diona. The Favonius Warbow is a free and solid weapon for her, obtainable from a quest at the end of the Dvalin storyline. For artifacts, you can take the complete “Girl in Love” set, which enhances the healing of group members by 15%. Alternatively, the “Old Court Ritual” set can also be useful.
If a Cryo support character fits well in your current team, then Diona is a good choice there. She can not only shield you but also keep you alive.
You should also note: Besides the event, Diona has also returned in a banner alongside Zhongli. You currently have an increased chance to obtain her also through wishes, especially if you plan to wish for Zhongli, who is considered one of the strongest characters.
If you have already obtained Diona through the banner, the event is still worth it. Not only do you receive Primogems, Mora, and EXP books as rewards, but you can also unlock the next constellation for your Diona.
Her first two constellations support her support role in the team by slightly reducing the high energy costs of her ultimate ability and strengthening her shields.
