Who is Ganyu? The new character in Genshin Impact is the secretary of Qixing and is already over 3,000 years old. She is an eager person and her greatest hobby is her work. She possesses the following attributes:
- Element: Cryo
- Weapon: Bow
- Constellation: Sinae Unicornis

What should you farm now? Every new character wants to be equipped with weapons, artifacts, and materials for ascension. We will tell you what you need for Ganyu and how to obtain the materials and equipment.
How to Get Ganyu
To unlock the character, you need to purchase the new banner for Ganyu. This costs either real money or Primogems. There are various farming methods to obtain Primogems:
- Daily commissions, general quests, and uncovering teleport points are useful.
- Currently, the “Missing Treasures” event, through which you can farm over 300 Primogems is particularly lucrative. It runs until January 18.
- Another method is redeeming current promo codes. Through these, you can currently earn 110 Primogems.
Lastly, you need some luck. Unlocking new 5-star characters can take numerous attempts. Even with characters with guarantee, it could take up to 28,800 Primogems or about 375 Euros in the worst case.
The Best Weapons for Ganyu
Ganyu uses a bow as her weapon. The best bows currently are Amos’ Bow and Skyward Harp. But luck is also needed when drawing from wishes.
If you want to play it safe, you can use Prototype Crescent or Favonius Warbow. These are two bows that you can obtain without spending real money. The Warbow is even available as a reward for completing the story.
These Artifacts are Worth It for Ganyu
If you want to get the most out of Ganyu, you should check out the Blizzard Strayer set, which is perfect for Cryo characters:
- 2-piece bonus: Increases Cryo damage by 15%
- 4-piece bonus: Increases Crit rate against enemies affected by Cryo by 20%, and by another 20% against frozen enemies
The artifacts were released together with the new area “Dragonspine” in Patch 1.2. You can farm them at the top of the mountain in the Peak of Vindagnyr domain. You unlock this by playing through the story.
Materials for Ascension
To later ascend Ganyu, you need various materials:
- Qingxin flowers can be found in high places and on mountains. It is best to use the interactive map to find them. You just have to disable all markers and select the third plant.
- Shivada Jade is best farmed from the Cryo bosses, Fluxflower, on the east coast of Mondstadt.
- Flux Nuclei can also be obtained from the Fluxflowers.
- The Vaniloqua Nectar and Luminous Nectar can be obtained from the Vaniloquas.
In addition to these items, you should also set aside “A Hero’s Wit” for experience points and Mora. Then you will be perfectly prepared for Ganyu’s arrival.
