From November 25 to December 8, a new event will take place in Genshin Impact, rewarding you with a KFC glider. However, there is a catch that players find absolutely terrible – you have to pay Twitch streamers to get the glider.
Genshin Impact is distributing KFC gliders to those who leave a subscription to a Twitch streamer. But that’s not all. The subscription cannot go to any streamer of your choice, but only to those that Genshin Impact lists for you.
The list of these streamers will be published on November 24. Additionally, one of the Twitch streamers must be live while you are carrying out the subscription. Not to mention, it has to be for at least 2 months in advance.
Furthermore, a subscription via Amazon Prime does not count. If you do not wish to subscribe to the streamer, you can also simply gift 2 subscriptions to their community. 2 gifted subs also count and allow you to receive the KFC glider.
What does not apply to the promotion are repeat subscriptions and the anonymous gifting of subscriptions. As a final qualification, you must have reached Adventure Level 10.
Community is absolutely disappointed with Genshin Impact again
While the event actually took place in collaboration with KFC in China, here you must subscribe to Twitch streamers you may not even know and therefore may not want to support.
Players are outraged by the handling of the event and compare it to the one in China. They say that at least there you received a menu and had your stomach filled. Here, you are supporting some Twitch streamer who has nothing to do with KFC.
For comparison: In China, players had to order for $20 at KFC, while here $10 is required on Twitch.
Genshin Impact tweeted the event at 3:30 AM:
Fans are totally upset under the tweet:
- Emporer Voxy writes: ‘I would rather fry Paimon than spend $10 on a glider that was promised to me.’
- SSJRiku is angry: ‘Wow, so $5 to receive some worthless crap that no one cares about? Thanks Genshin Impact!’
- owoitsakat summarizes the opinion of many: ‘Ah, yes, an event where you have to pay to receive the prizes.’
- XXPikaDeathXX responds: ‘To be honest: I think I would take the glider if I got KFC chicken for it, lol.’
Others are trying to calm the outraged people by informing them how the event went in China and that players there also had to pay $20 for the gliders. They were never free.
The glider event is also being discussed on YouTube, Reddit, and Discord
- On Discord, Qiqi stickers are being posted again, as was the case with the terrible anniversary gifts.
- On Reddit, the original post (via reddit) and another thread that posted the Qiqi stickers are being discussed (via reddit).
- Genshin content creators like AsianGuyStream (via YouTube) and IWinToLose Gaming (via YouTube) also discussed the event in their videos.
AsianGuyStream noted in his video that the contract would be terrible and that he, as a Twitch streamer, absolutely did not want to participate in this event. He declined the invitation right away.
However, the comments included the same as under the official tweet. Some suggested making a special glider for the Twitch cooperation instead of marketing the KFC glider this way.
