Patch 2.8 of Genshin Impact arrives on July 13. We at MeinMMO summarize everything about the upcoming content and leaks for you.
What official information do we have? Genshin Impact announced a new character on Twitter: Shikanoin Heizou and confirmed him in a livestream on July 2. He is a talented detective from Inazuma and is said to be quite small. Heizou wields a catalyst and is a melee fighter – the first of its kind in Genshin Impact.
Are there already leaks about Patch 2.8? Yes, as the beta phase is already in full swing. However, we now not only have leaks but also precise information from the developers at miHoYo.

Leaks about the abilities of Anemo user Shikanoin Heizou
What can Heizou do? Heizou will be a 4-star character and will use a catalyst as a weapon (via Honey Impact).
- Normal Attacks: Performs up to five forward strikes and kicks that deal Anemo damage.
- Strong Attacks: Consumes a certain amount of stamina and executes a kick that deals Anemo damage.
- Fall Attacks: Heizou damages all enemies in his path. When he lands, he causes Anemo area damage.
Elemental Skill:
- Press: Deals Anemo damage with a fist strike.
- Hold: Deals Anemo damage. You gather energy to deal higher damage per stack (“Declension”).
- Declension: You can stack up to 4 stacks. Once you reach the maximum stacks, the next fist strike will be even stronger. Declension lasts for 60 seconds.
- Cooldown: 10 seconds.
Special Ability:
- You unleash an exploding kick in the air, dealing Anemo area damage and drawing nearby enemies and items in.
- If the kick hits an enemy affected by Hydro/Pyro/Cryo/Electro, they will be marked with “Wind Pattern Iris.”
- Wind Pattern Iris explodes shortly after and deals area damage with the element the enemy was affected by.
- A maximum of 4 enemies can be marked with Wind Pattern Iris from a single kick.
- An enemy cannot be affected by multiple Wind Pattern Iris and multiple elements simultaneously.
- Cooldown: 12 seconds
- Energy Cost: 40

Constellations:
- 1st Constellation: When Shikanoin Heizou is switched in, his speed for normal attacks increases by 15% for 5 seconds. He also gains a stack of Declension. The effect can be triggered once every 10 seconds.
- 2nd Constellation: When you trigger the kick of the special ability, it pulls nearby enemies in even stronger and the suction effect lasts 1 second longer.
- 3rd Constellation: The talent level of the elemental skill increases by 3.
- 4th Constellation: When you cast Wind Pattern Iris on enemies with the kick of the special ability and the iris explodes, you regenerate 9 elemental energy. Each additional explosion from one kick returns 1.5 elemental energy. In total, you can recover 13.5 elemental energy with one use of the special ability.
- 5th Constellation: The talent level of the special ability increases by 3.
- 6th Constellation: Each stack of Declension increases the critical rate of the fist strike by 4%. When you execute a strong fist strike with 4 stacks, its critical damage is increased by 32%.
Passive Talents:
- “Pre-Existing Guilt”: Reduces your stamina consumption for all team members by 20% when sprinting. The effect cannot be stacked with other similar effects.
- “Paradoxical Practice”: When Heizou triggers a swirl while on the field, he gains a stack of Declension. The effect can be triggered once every 0.1 seconds.
- “Penetrative Reasoning”: When the elemental skill hits an enemy, the elemental mastery of all team members except Heizou himself is increased by 80 points for 10 seconds.

Other leaks related to Heizou:
- Profile picture and splash art (via reddit).
- Special dish – it increases the attack of all team members by 66-95 for 300 seconds. In coop, this only applies to your own characters (via reddit).
Upcoming Banners in Patch 2.8
Which character banners will appear? The 5-star characters Klee, Kazuha, and Yoimiya will receive reruns in Patch 2.8. Also, Shikanoin Heizou as a 4-star character will get a banner.
Additionally, the Tapestry of Golden Flames banner is returning. This banner increases your chance of obtaining the 5-star character Yoimiya.
What weapon banners are expected to appear? It is still unclear. Currently, there is only a leak of a new one-handed weapon that is supposed to be called “This is a sword” (via reddit). However, it is unknown whether it will be a 4-star event weapon or a gacha weapon.
What should the sword be able to do? It reportedly has a base attack of 541 at level 90 and has attack % as a sub-stat. The weapon’s effect enables you to trigger a “Hewing Gale” every 8 seconds when normal attacks, strong attacks, or fall attacks hit the enemy. This then causes the Hewing Gale to deal area damage based on 180% of the attack. Additionally, it increases your attack by 15% for 8 seconds (via reddit).

Events that are coming in Patch 2.8
These events will take place in Patch 2.8:
- “A Summer Sea Sojourn”: Similar to Patch 1.6, the event sends you to summer islands where you can explore and collect event currency. For 2,000 pieces of this currency, you can redeem 1x the character Fischl as a gift. This was confirmed by the developer in the livestream.
- Additionally, there is a new outfit for Fischl as well as one for Diluc. There are rumors that Diluc’s skin will include a scroll.
- The Hidden Strife event takes you to a place where “the Traveler and Paimon notice something from the past that could pose a danger”.
- There will be a hangout event for the new character Heizou.
- Furthermore, you can re-enter the Golden Apple Archipelago map through events, which has been revamped by the developers.
Other leaks related to Patch 2.8
What other leaks are there?
- Levels 11 and 12 of the Spiral Abyss (via reddit).
- The same dropped items, like enemy drops, will now be stacked and no longer lie scattered around (via reddit).
- On PC, you can set 45 FPS (via reddit).
- New furniture for the housing system (via reddit). They mainly resemble the character Klee.
- There will be new quests in your adventurer’s license book (via reddit).
- More story and background information for Diluc and Kazuha (via reddit).
- You can choose whether to uninstall past quest resources, like audio files (via reddit). However, you can reinstall them after uninstallation, the decision is not permanent. This allows you to save storage space.
- In the “further future”, Nahida and Amber are said to be the next heroines to receive a skin. These two skins are supposed to feature butterflies.
