Update from February 14: The upcoming banners from the release of the patch have been announced. You can find all the information about it under “Upcoming Gacha Banners in Patch 2.5“.
These are the highlights of Patch 2.5 from Genshin Impact:
- The story involving Raiden Shogun and Yae Miko continues to progress.
- Yae Miko will be available as a new playable 5-star character in the character event wish.
- The 5-star characters Raiden Shogun and Kokomi Sangonomiya will receive reruns.
- 2 new weapons.
- A new weekly boss and enemies.
- New and familiar events.
- “The Great Rift” has been announced for Patch 2.6, and a small glimpse was shown.

Electro User Yae Miko – Here are her abilities
Who is Yae Miko? Yae Miko is the shrine maiden of the Narukami Shrine in Inazuma. She also has a fox form and is the eternal friend of the all-powerful Raiden Shogun. Additionally, she is the head of a publisher that releases books.
What can Yae Miko do? Yae can deal high damage with her special ability while she is on the field and consistent damage when she is off the field.
- Normal attack: ‘Spiritfox Sin Eater.’
- Elemental ability, ‘Yakan Evocation: Sesshou Sakura’: Yae leaves an Electro marker called ‘Sesshou Sakura’ with each use while she moves swiftly. The markers can deal Electro damage.
- Special ability, ‘Great Secret Art: Tenko Kenshin’: Destroys previously left ‘Sesshou Sakura’ and summons a large lightning strike from the sky that deals damage to enemies.
Passive talents of Yae Miko:
- ‘The Shrine’s Sacred Shade’: Each ‘Sesshou Sakura’ destroyed by the special ability triggers a cooldown reset of one use of Yae Miko’s elemental ability.
- ‘Enlightened Blessing’: Each point of elemental mastery increases the damage of ‘Sesshou Sakura.’
- ‘Meditations of a Yako’: Can craft an additional talent material from the same region when crafting talent material.
Upcoming Gacha Banners in Patch 2.5
Which character banners are coming? Starting February 16, you can obtain Yae Miko as a new character from the character event wish for three weeks. Additionally, Thoma, Diona, and Fischl will join as 4-star heroes.
From March 8, both Raiden Shogun and Kokomi Sangonomiya will be available together as reruns. All three characters will appear in the story, which is why Raiden and Kokomi will receive a rerun so early.
Which weapon banners are coming? Concurrently with Yae Miko, her 5-star weapon ‘Kagura’s Truth’ will be available. Additionally, you can also obtain the one-handed sword ‘Mossgreen Rock’, which is considered one of the best weapons in Genshin Impact.
As 4-star weapons, the following weapons are included in the banner:
- The Stringless (Bow)
- Prototype Rancour (One-Handed Sword)
- Wavebreaker’s Fin (Polearm)
- Claymore of the Raincutter (Claymore)
- Heart’s Insight (Catalyst)
It is uncertain which weapons will appear in the second part of the patch. However, it is possible that both ‘Grasscutter’s Light’ and ‘Eternal Moonshine’ will be included in the second weapon banner, as they are the signature weapons of Raiden Shogun and Kokomi Sangonomiya.
New weekly boss and new enemies in the Overworld
What new weekly boss is expected? It was not confirmed in the livestream if it is indeed the Raiden Shogun, but the new weekly boss looks very much like her. Players are supposed to do the story quests to find out who she really is, as was mentioned in the Genshin Impact stream.
What new enemies are there in the Overworld? The new enemies are called “Shadowy Husk” and they come in three different forms:
- Standard Bearer – Pyro Attribute
- Line Breaker – Hydro Attribute
- Defender – Cryo Attribute
The Events in the new Update of Genshin Impact
As with every new patch, several events are coming this time that hold rewards for you:
- ‘Ritual of the Three Worlds’: Monsters and items in Enkanomiya are shrouded in thick black fog, and Kokomi gives you the task of clearing this fog. As a reward, you can get a Crown of Wisdom, Original Resin, and a new 4-star weapon along with refinement materials. The weapon is called ‘Eye of the Promise’ and is a catalyst.
- ‘Created by Divine Hand’: You can create your own sphere in an editor and share it with other “Genshin Impact” players for them to complete. Rewards include Original Resin, EXP cards, and weapon materials.
- ‘A Sip of a Tipsy Dream’: As a bartender, you must work in the pub of Mondstadt and create drinks that you can serve to guests. As a gift, you will receive an event-exclusive name card, Original Resin, and other goodies.
- ‘Hyakunin Ikki’: You can borrow characters you do not own or use your own to form team compositions and participate in timed battles. You could already play this event in Patch 2.1. While you received a name card back then, this time there are only smaller goodies in the form of Original Resin, talent materials, and weapon materials.
- ‘Overflowing Mastery’: You receive double loot from spheres.
A brief insight into “The Great Rift” for Patch 2.6
What is “The Great Rift”? Fans and leaks have long debated about the great rift seen to the west of Liyue on the map. It has often been said that the rift would appear soon, but rumors have always proven false.
But now it’s finally here: In Patch 2.6, the great rift is supposed to come into the game. Legends say that Morax and Azhdaha fought each other.
Due to special geological conditions, the plants in the area have a unique color. Over the years, a mine has formed in the rift, where the people of Liyue gather valuable resources for their classic porcelain.
