HoYoVerse has terminated voice actor Elliot Gindi. He voices the playable hero Tighnari in the English version of the game Genshin Impact. Allegations against Gindi emerged, claiming he engaged in sexual relationships with teenage fans of Genshin Impact. The voice actor admitted to some of the allegations and assured that he accepts the consequences of his actions.
Where did the allegations come from? On February 8, a Twitter user, FretCore, published a document with accusations against Elliot Gindi. The document is no longer accessible as it violated Twitter’s user policy.
The document accused the voice actor of serious misconduct:
- He is allegedly pedophilic, transphobic, and sexist.
- He would threaten suicide to manipulate people.
- He had sexual relations with teenage fans of Genshin Impact.
- He would “groom” minors – manipulating them so he could later engage in sexual acts with them.
According to the site Sportskeeda , the allegations came from one of Gindi’s moderators who manages his Twitch and Discord.
The core of the accusation was that the voice actor had abused his role in Genshin Impact, portraying himself as an “insider” who has contact with other voice actors to hit on young women. He allegedly behaved terribly in every possible way.
On reddit , it is also noted: He has also put down “NPC voice actors,” even though he could only voice NPCs himself besides Tighnari.
How does the voice actor respond? In a statement on February 8, he apologized. Gindi wrote that he thought everything was “consensual and safe.” However, he was mistaken if he thought he could make the situation “ethical” through clear actions.
He will now log out and begin therapy.
The voice actor says: The screenshots circulating of him engaging in embarrassing sex talk are true. He also threatened suicide if it came to light. He did not consider how serious such behavior is.
Gindi assures that he has never consciously done anything with minors.
