Space Marines are truly inseparable from the Warhammer universe, and now the engineered superhumans are getting their 3rd game. The publisher of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has officially announced a sequel.
What was shown? So far, there is only a short teaser for Space Marine 3, and it shows a still image of Captain Titus (the protagonist of the first two parts) and the name of the new game. In the background, only rain and thunder can be heard – overall, the teaser is rather uninformative on its own.
Space Marine 3 is supposed to be even more immersive
What is already known about the sequel? Not much at the moment. The developers have not officially confirmed who our major opponent in Space Marine 3 will be. The Tyranids from part 2 seem likely, but under the teaser on YouTube, some are also wishing for the return of the Orks from part 1 or the Necrons – skeletal alien robots.
Captain Titus is likely to return as the protagonist. He is one of the titular Space Marines – super soldiers bred by the Emperor, who are significantly larger than a normal human and much stronger as well.
The publisher of the game, Focus Entertainment, has revealed a bit more about Space Marine 3 in an announcement on their own website. The game is said to be “even more immersive” than part 2, offering “intense, brutal, and spectacular gameplay”.
Space Marine 3 will have both a campaign and a multiplayer mode. The publisher also promises “innovations that redefine the standard for third-person action games” – including “large-scale battles” that could take the already immense enemy hordes from part 2 up a notch.
Those concerned about Space Marine 2 after this announcement can breathe a sigh of relief. The game is set to receive new content in the coming years. And that’s a good thing since Space Marine 2 is one of the best games in Warhammer 40,000 in recent years and is currently available on Steam at an all-time low price.
