Pokémon Scarlet and Violet were announced in the Presents on February 27 for the Nintendo Switch. The 3 new starters, the available Pokémon, some clips from the explorable world, and even a rough release date were shown. MeinMMO reports on everything we know so far about the 9th generation of Pokémon.
What can you expect in Scarlet and Violet? In the new main editions of the series, you can explore freely for the first time. The different sections of the world and the cities flow seamlessly into each other, with no loading sequences between the areas.
The Pokémon roam freely as well, and you can discover them anytime in the sky, in the forests, and along the paths.
Only in Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee as well as Sword and Shield was the feature of freely roaming and catchable Pokémon included before. However, Scarlet and Violet resemble Pokémon Legends: Arceus in both the feature and the graphics.

When does it start? At the end of 2022, you can already embark on your journey. The exact date has not yet been revealed. However, based on other releases, one can assume that it might be sometime between October and November.
The 3 Starters of Scarlet and Violet: Felori, Krokel, and Kwaks
What starters are available in Scarlet and Violet? As usual, you can choose a starter in the 9th generation that accompanies you on your adventure.
This time, you have the plant cat Pokémon Felori, the fire crocodile Pokémon Krokel, or the water duck Pokémon Kwaks at your disposal.

What can the starters do? Like always, the abilities of the 3 starter Pokémon are the same. The plant Pokémon Felori has the ability Grassy Surge, while the fire starter Krokel has the ability Blaze and the water Pokémon Kwaks has the ability Torrent.
All three abilities are activated when the Pokémon has only 1/3 of its hit points (HP) remaining. Thus, Grassy Surge boosts plant-type attacks, Blaze boosts fire-type attacks, or Torrent boosts water-type attacks by 50%.
However, how the evolutions of the 3 starters look has not been revealed yet.
You in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
It seems that the protagonists of the new games are younger again than in the predecessors. Depending on which edition you choose, the outfits of the protagonists differ.
If you choose Pokémon Scarlet, the two wear red-orange themed clothes, while in Violet, the color violet is themed more.
Can you customize your character again? In recent generations, you could dress the characters as you liked. This should probably also be possible in Scarlet and Violet. The trailer already showed a shop that hints at this.
It seems to go to Spain in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
It is very likely that Scarlet and Violet are based on Spain (via Twitter), as a map of the Spanish region was at least seen in the trailer.
And even in-game, there was a map on the wall that hints at the Iberian Peninsula, which includes Spain and Portugal (via Twitter).
User Tarnished Coco compared a building from the new generation with the famous Sagrada Família from Barcelona; the similarity is definitely visible:

How does Pokémon Home work? With Pokémon Home, you can transfer Pokémon from other generations to the current one and usually vice versa. It has already been announced that only Pokémon that appear in Scarlet and Violet can be transferred there (via Twitter).
This means that not all 905 previous Pokémon may be available in the new editions. However, it has not been officially confirmed which and how many Pokémon will make it into the game.
