The new streaming service GeForce Now has been active for a few days. Now Activision Blizzard’s games are being removed from the service. What is going on?
What is GeForce Now? GeForce Now is a streaming service from Nvidia. You can stream supported games from Steam through the Nvidia app, for example. You don’t need a powerful computer, just a stable and fast internet connection.
Nvidia removes Activision Blizzard games from GeForce Now
What happened? Nvidia has announced in the official forum that the games from Activision Blizzard must be removed from the GeForce Now portfolio. For many, this is another piece of bad news regarding Activision Blizzard, which is currently under heavy criticism.
In the official forum post in the Nvidia forum it says:
We have been asked to remove all Activision Blizzard games from our service. Nevertheless, we hope to continue working with Activision Blizzard and can bring the games back soon.

Activision Blizzard and Google want to work more closely together
Why were the games removed? Nvidia does not specify reasons for the removal. The request is not further explained, Nvidia apologizes for the inconvenience and hopes that the games will return soon.
Activision Blizzard has formed a strategic partnership with Google (via DerAktionär.de). Even during the Overwatch League Blizzard switched from Twitch to Youtube. The result was a significant loss in viewer numbers. The new Call of Duty League is also expected to be exclusively available on Youtube. Google and Blizzard are hoping for a higher reach among viewers.
Furthermore, Google and Blizzard have stated that all games from Activision Blizzard will run on Google Cloud servers.
Which games are no longer playable? All games released by Activision Blizzard. These include, among others:
- Call of Duty series, including Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
- Diablo 3
- Overwatch
- Starcraft
- Hearthstone
- World of Warcraft
- Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
Fans are disappointed and astonished
What are the fans saying? Under the official post, user voices are rising. User Just_Skilled complains:
“A friend and I bought GeForce Now just because of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. And now they cancel it. Shame! I was so happy with the service, but only for one day.”

Especially since Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will soon start Season 2 and that the game is now being removed from GeForce Now is bothering some. Some are even concerned that other games might disappear from GeForce Now and that this is just the beginning.
User Iggy1404 at least tries to calm the spirits. He says that Nvidia could be the least responsible for the entire action and that this withdrawal was an “incredibly poor move by Activision Blizzard. He writes, “use your social networks, open tickets, or write to gaming journalists – raise awareness.”
On Reddit, many fans are also disappointed. A user writes that he subscribed to GeForce Now just to finally be able to play Modern Warfare.
