The online shooter Borderlands 3 is no longer available for pre-order in the Epic Game Store for PC. The developer says they temporarily suspended sales. It sounds like this is a reaction from Gearbox to the ongoing Mega Sale, where Borderlands 3 was available for €49.99.
Here’s what the sale is about: In the big “Mega Sale” in the Epic Game Store, every game in the store costing more than €14.99 is available for €10 less.
This means that smaller games like “John Wick Hex”, which normally cost $17.99, are available for $7.99.
But it also means that big blockbuster games like Borderlands 3, which are still to be released, are €10 cheaper.
Instead of €59.99, Borderlands 3 in the standard edition was available for €49.99. Other editions of Borderlands 3 were also available at a lower price.
This seems to have displeased Gearbox. They have temporarily withdrawn the game from the store.
Gearbox does not provide reasons, says “it will be back very soon”
This is what Gearbox says now: In a statement to PC Gamer , Gearbox says: “We are working closely with Epic and have temporarily removed Borderlands 3 from the shop. We look forward to bringing the game back to the Epic Games Store very soon.
We will respect the price of games purchased during the Mega Sale.”
Gearbox does not give any reasons why they removed Borderlands 3 from the store.
What’s behind this? Previously, Paradox Interactive had also pulled back its highly anticipated game Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 .
It was said that they weren’t quite sure what the sale would mean. Paradox apparently viewed it as a bad signal that the title could be discounted before release and withdrew the game from the Epic Games Store.
It’s quite possible that Gearbox has made a similar decision.
When will Borderlands 3 return? Gearbox does not provide an exact date.
