A special appearance at Nintendo’s Indie World Showcase surprised quite a few players. Gaming-YouTuber Jason “Videogamedunkey” Gastrow (32) made a big announcement while standing in a lake.
Who is Videogamedunkey? The US YouTuber is known for his satirical game reviews and gameplay videos. With sharp humor, Videogamedunkey divided the opinions of viewers. However, his style seems to resonate well with many. Success speaks for his concept:
- The YouTuber currently has 7.33 million subscribers on the platform.
- A video on Hogwarts Legacy gathered a total of 4.3 million views (as of April 20th, 2023).
Now, Videogamedunkey unexpectedly appeared in a Nintendo livestream and had an important announcement that he presented in a rather unusual way.
With videos on games like Legend of Zelda and Skyrim, the YouTuber has celebrated great successes:

During Nintendo’s Indie World Showcase on April 19, 2023, titles from indie studios that will be released for the Nintendo Switch are presented. In a clip, the YouTuber appears.
You can see Dunkey standing in a lake with another person. The YouTuber throws a frisbee at the camera and introduces himself as “Dunkey from Big Mode Publishing”. He then explains that the person next to him is Billy Basso, the developer of Animal Well.
Last year, the gaming YouTuber founded his own game company “Big Mode”. As part of the Nintendo livestream, he now announced the first game together with the developer.

Furthermore, the developer mentions that he worked for more than 5 years on Animal Well, a forthcoming Metroidvania game. Meanwhile, you can see Dunkey balancing on some stones in the lake in the background.
The presentation of the game Animal Well follows: It is a puzzle platformer set in a pixel world. The player explores a labyrinth in search of treasures, solves puzzles, and encounters various creatures. It will be available on the Nintendo Switch in early 2024.
What does the community say about it? Many users on Twitter express their surprise at the YouTuber’s appearance, initially not knowing what Dunkey was doing in the Nintendo livestream:
