The Division 2 is not yet released, but it is already clear where you can buy the game. Or rather, where not. A fan stumbled upon the report that you will be bound to two stores for the digital version when you want to buy The Division 2.
Why are third-party vendors not allowed to sell The Division 2 digitally? According to a report from PCGamer, The Division 2 will not be available through any third-party site. This means that sites like Green Man Gaming or Gamestop will no longer be able to sell the game digitally from the release on March 15.
This was pointed out by the site Gamesplanet with a note about The Division 2:
Sadly, we must inform you that Ubisoft will not allow third-party stores like Gamesplanet to sell The Division 2 after its release on March 15. After this date, the game will only be available through the Ubisoft store and one other exclusive store.
The other store is the Epic Store, the platform of the Fortnite creators. Epic is the exclusive partner of Ubisoft for The Division 2. Ubisoft continues to stand by this.

What happens if I have already purchased a key there? As of now, all keys that are purchased before March 15 should work. The corresponding third-party vendors still have the keys available at the time of writing (March 8 at 6:50 PM).
According to Gamesplanet, they should also remain purchasable and activatable until March 15. However, at least support may no longer be available after that date, as no replacement keys will be provided.

Where can I buy The Division 2? The official sales points for The Division 2 are Ubisoft and Uplay and the Epic Store. At least until March 15, all other vendors should still be able to offer keys.
The Community’s Reaction
The partnership between Epic and Ubisoft is poorly received by most gamers. Many are annoyed that they have to install additional platforms when they already have most games on Steam or DRM-free.
Players are now advising against buying The Division 2 through Epic on reddit. Errors occur that the support does not address, causing the paid money to simply disappear. It is better to go directly to Uplay.

The Epic Store is generally unpopular with many players outside of Fortnite and many are wondering if it has a chance against Steam. Therefore, Ubisoft’s decision to collaborate with Epic for The Division 2 is frequently criticized.
