During the Opening Night at gamescom 2019, several trailers for MMOs and online games were shown. Here are the highlights.
What a show it was? On Monday evening, the Opening Night kicked off gamescom 2019. The live show was presented to an audience at the Cologne Fair and could also be watched via stream.
Big names like Destiny 2, Monster Hunter World, or Call of Duty were part of the show. Here are the most important trailers for MMOs and online games.
Monster Hunter World: Iceborne
What was shown? For Monster Hunter World, an epic trailer for the Iceborne expansion was shown, lasting nearly 2 minutes. The focus is on a battle with a Velkhana.
One can see how the ice dragon attacks a base. The base defends itself with heavy cannons against the frozen behemoth. The ice dragon’s attacks include ice shards shooting from the ground and a cool ice breath.
Predator: Hunting Grounds
What was shown? During the presentation at gamescom, the developers showcased the first gameplay trailer for Predator: Hunting Grounds.
In the game, 4 elite soldiers fight against the Predator. While the soldiers carry highly advanced weapons, the Predator has powerful alien technology.
The trailer shows how the soldiers enter a jungle and initially encounter human opponents. Then the true enemy reveals itself. The game will be released in 2020.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
What was shown? For Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, a surprise open alpha was announced during the reveal. During this alpha, only the 2v2 mode will be playable.
Furthermore, only players on PS4 will be able to participate. We have summarized the information about the alpha for you. It starts this week.

Destiny 2
What was shown? For Destiny 2, two new trailers were presented during gamescom 2019. Firstly, there was a major gameplay trailer focused on the Shadowkeep expansion. The addon is expected in the fall.
In this first trailer, Eris Morn speaks of a terrible event on the Moon. The Guardians are once again at war.
This is what the 2nd trailer showed: The next trailer is about Season 8, called “Season of the Undying”. It says that now the Vex come and become the new, great threat.
