At gamescom 2019, there is exciting news about MMOs and online games. We will show you highlights in the game overview that you can look forward to.
When does gamescom take place?
- Opening Night August 19 from 8:00 PM: This is a new show presenting announcements from publishers, world premieres with new footage, and guest appearances by stars from the international games industry.
- Tuesday, August 20: Trade visitor day – Admission from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- Wednesday, August 21 to Saturday, August 24: Exhibition days – Admission from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM
We will update the following list as soon as more information about the games and their gamescom appearances becomes available.
The expected MMO and online highlights of gamescom 2019 – The games
We will take a closer look at the multiplayer online games and some MMOs that will be featured at the fair.
Borderlands 3
What will be shown? Exact details of the presentation are not known. There is hope for a detailed showcase of the game. In Hall 6 at Take-Two or Hall 8 at Microsoft, you can try out a part of Borderlands 3.
What is currently happening with Borderlands 3? Borderlands 3 is heading towards release. The release of Borderlands 3 is less than 3 weeks after gamescom.
Where can you find the game? In Hall 8 at Microsoft (2K Games)
ESO (Elder Scrolls Online)
What will be shown? This year, there will be an ESO Tavern outside of gamescom. This time on August 24 from 7:00 PM to 1:00 AM at Herbrand’s Ehrenfeld in Cologne. At this community meeting, you will have the opportunity to talk to the following people:
- Matt Firor – Game Director
- Rich Lambert – Creative Director
- Mike Finnigan – Dungeon Lead
- Kai Schober – Community Manager
In addition, there will be food, drinks, and discussions about the current state and future of ESO. Participation is for those aged 18 and over.
If you want to participate in the meeting, you must register in advance.

The event is open to everyone aged 18 and above, and you don’t need a wristband from gamescom. Space is limited, so don’t hesitate to register!

What is currently happening with Elder Scrolls Online? On August 12, the Scalebreaker DLC for ESO will be released on PC. This is one of the most anticipated contents for ESO. The update brings back the story of Elsweyr and the season of the dragon. Players are eager for new content like dungeons and comfort features.
Where can you find the game? You can find ESO outside of gamescom at the aforementioned community meeting.
FIFA 20
What will be shown? EA is not planning its own live stream at gamescom 2019. All presentations are scheduled during the Opening Night. What could be shown about FIFA 20 at the Opening Night is still unclear. However, there will be play stations where you can play FIFA 20.
What is currently happening with FIFA 20? Players are eagerly awaiting the release of FIFA 20 in September 2019. The cover star for the new game has now been confirmed, it is Zidane.
Where can you find the game? In Hall 6 at Electronic Arts, there will be play stations.
Destiny 2
What will be shown? Destiny 2 will have a major appearance in our show at gamescom Together, about which we cannot reveal too much yet. However, it will be worth tuning in.
What is currently happening with Destiny 2? The release of the Shadowkeep expansion has been surprisingly delayed to a later date.
Where can you find the game? With us in the livestream at gamescom Together. The channel is embedded below in the article.
Monster Hunter World: Iceborne
What will be shown? During gamescom 2019, Capcom will present new content for the Iceborne expansion of Monster Hunter: World. There will be new missions that can be played in Europe for the first time. The missions can be tried out solo or in co-op at gamescom.
The following leads of the development team will be on site:
- Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto
- Director Kaname Fujioka
They will present “New from Monster Hunter” and sign autographs. There will also be competitions.
What is currently happening with Monster Hunter World? Players are eagerly awaiting the release of Iceborne – When will it come for PC?

Where can you find the game? Hall 7.1 Booth no. B041/A040 at Capcom
Ring of Elysium
What will be shown? The battle royale shooter Ring of Elysium offers visitors at gamescom 2019 a chance to take a look at the new Season 5.
In addition, there will be cosplay of the Season 4 characters Max and Big Joe, German influencers competing against each other in the Ashen-Eye mode, and in-game gifts.
What is currently happening with Ring of Elysium? In June, Ring of Elysium officially celebrated its release. We have looked at the reviews of the free battle royale shooter.
Where can you find the game? In Hall 6.
Ghost Recon Breakpoint
What will be shown? Ubisoft confirmed that you can play the title Ghost Recon Breakpoint during gamescom 2019, even before its release.
What is currently happening with Ghost Recon Breakpoint? In a technical test, players were able to check out the beginning of Ghost Recon Breakpoint from July 26 to July 29. However, this content is still confidential. This content may also be available to play during gamescom.
Where can you find the game? Hall 8 at Microsoft, Hall 6.1 at Ubisoft
Teamfight Tactics
What will be shown? Riot Games will be present at gamescom 2019. However, the content they will show is still unclear. Possibly there will be more about the popular game mode Teamfight Tactics.
What is currently happening with Teamfight Tactics? Since its release, there has been a lot going on in the game mode. Riot announced that Teamfight Tactics is now a permanent part of League of Legends and immediately announced new champions.
Where can you find the game? You can find Riot Games in Hall 11.3.
Doom Eternal
What will be shown? During gamescom 2019 you can play Doom Eternal. There will be play stations at Microsoft and Bethesda where you can try out the action-packed first-person shooter.
What is currently happening with Doom Eternal? Developers have already presented gameplay for PvP in Doom Eternal. See here if it’s for you:
Where can you find the game? In Hall 8 at Microsoft (Bethesda)
World of Tanks
What will be shown? At the new booth of World of Tanks, there will be play stations for you. There will be a “Tank Journey” that rewards you with a personalized tank driving license and exclusive in-game items and material goodies upon completion.
The traditional player meeting of World of Tanks will also take place again during gamescom this year. You can expect food, drinks, and fun activities. You even have a chance to meet some developers. The whole thing takes place off-site from gamescom, and registration is mandatory.
The party starts on August 23 at 8:00 PM and goes until 3:00 AM on August 24.

What is currently happening with World of Tanks? In World of Tanks, the Tank Festival will start on August 6, which will remain active until early October. The event runs for the 9th anniversary of WoT. It includes new frontline episodes, the return of tank races, and more.

Insider Tips
The following games may be of interest to MMO enthusiasts and online players. They offer either co-op or online gameplay and sound promising. It might be worth a look.
- Minecraft Dungeons: Microsoft’s gamescom plan also includes Minecraft Dungeons. It is a mix of Minecraft and Diablo. You can find it playable in Hall 8 at Microsoft
- Code Vein: The action-RPG with co-op elements can be found in Hall 6 at Capcom. We asked how to play Code Vein with friends.
- Pokémon Sword and Shield: For the first time, online raids will take place in the new Pokémon editions. You can find out more about it in Hall 9 at Nintendo.
- Kingdom Under Fire 2: The MMO is considered the most expensive Korean MMO and will be released later this year.
- Marvel’s Avengers: You can try out the superhero game in Hall 9 at Square Enix. Leaked gameplay revealed interesting details about Marvel’s Avengers.
Who is not at gamescom 2019?
So far, there are still no confirmations from Epic Games for a Fortnite booth or Rockstar Games for GTA or Red Dead Redemption 2. It is possible that these will not appear or will only reveal their plans at the last minute.
Blizzard is not presenting Diablo, Hearthstone, or Overwatch
Blizzard stated that it will not participate in gamescom 2019 with these games. However, there will be a merchandise area in Hall 5 with a fan merchandise shop.
