A gamer bought an RTX 4090, but GTA V runs anything but smoothly. The fault lies with the game and not the expensive hardware.
A user has a powerful gaming PC, but in GTA V, his system struggles. On Reddit, he posted a video showing how his game stutters and lags. And he wonders where the problem could lie.
But the fault actually lies not with his hardware, but with the game.
High framerate causes game to stutter and crash
What kind of error is this? Those who want to play GTA V with powerful hardware usually achieve high framerates. The problem is that Rockstar’s aging engine does not cope with such high framerates. If it exceeds 165 FPS in the game, there are heavy stutters and even crashes.
How does one solve the problem? The solution to the problem is indeed to limit the framerate for the game to 144 FPS. This eliminates the technical problems, and the game runs smoothly again. Currently, there are 2 options:
- Either you limit the framerate in the game to 144 FPS.
- Or you go through the graphics card software from AMD/Nvidia/Intel. Here you can also limit the framerate.
Framerate is extremely important for many gamers
Why do people even set such a high framerate? Framerate in German means “frames per second”. The more frames per second you see, the smoother the game appears. Especially in the double-digit frame range, the differences can be clearly seen. Play a game at 30 FPS and then at 60 FPS, and you should immediately notice the change.
In a cozy strategy game, you don’t need a high framerate, but in competitive gaming, especially in shooters, high framerates are important, as you can hit your opponents better with higher numbers. In the following YouTube video, you can see the differences:
Many pros deliberately play with the worst graphics in order to be less “overwhelmed” by details and thus better perceive their opponents.
A positive side effect, however, is that you also get a few more FPS out of your hardware. Because at lower settings, in many cases, the frames per second also increase.
Whether a good monitor or a high framerate really makes you a better player has been tested by a well-known tech YouTuber:
