The release of Diablo 4 is just around the corner, and many fans are discussing how they will approach the launch. Among them are surprisingly many older gamers who now hope to be able to introduce their children to “their” world.
The most important things about Diablo 4:
- Diablo 4 will be released on June 6 for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. Pre-order customers of the more expensive editions can start playing as early as June 2. Here you can find all information about the release.
- For many fans, Diablo 4 is the great hope for a good game from Blizzard after some failures. So far, it looks good: the last tests were received extremely well.
- Many players are still concerned about the price. At 70 euros, Diablo 4 is quite expensive. With our checklist, we tell you whether Diablo 4 is worth it for you.
What about the parents? A mother shares on Reddit how much she looks forward to Diablo 4. She started with the first part back in the day. Now she is 43 and a single mother of three children, all of whom think she “is crazy” for looking forward to a “click to move” game.
Only her 12-year-old child has been convinced to give the game a chance with her. She wants her children to “love Diablo as much” as she does. When asked if the release is a “family event” for anyone else, she receives hundreds of comments within a few hours.
Among them are some users who feel the same: parents who want to game with their children or wish to introduce their children to their favorite hobby. One user even shares:
My husband and I met in WoW 14 years ago, but Diablo was his first RPG when he was young. So he was super excited about Diablo 3. It came out around the time I had our older son. […]
Our sons are now old enough to play with us and both have gaming PCs. All four of us got the Ashava kill in the slam. A little carrying from our side got them to level 20, but they dealt decent damage after I built them the build and gave them some gear. […]
We are considering starting a family-friendly clan in Diablo 4 for parents with children, right in Early Access.

There are even responses from users around 40 who have managed to get their own parents to play. They, too, would now like to take a look at Diablo 4.
Recently, Blizzard created anticipation for Diablo 4 with a new live trailer. The preload starts soon.
“I’m not sure I would recommend the game to children under 12”
Despite the joy of many parents, there are also concerns in the comments. Diablo is quite a “cruel” game and not necessarily suitable for younger children. Some parents share that they even want to bring their 7- or 8-year-old children to Sanctuary.
At least in Germany, Diablo 4 is only approved for ages 16 and has actually quite a few bloody scenes. However, the parents say: cutscenes will be skipped. They want to focus on the casting and exploring. That is justifiable.
Others recommend playing Diablo 4 on consoles. The versions for Xbox and PlayStation have crossplay, so you can better control what the children see.
For all parents whose children do not want to join in, there are also some tips. So they should give them a brief crash course on how to shop and cook or at least prepare food for the weekend when mom and dad are not available.
