A gamer found an Nvidia graphics card in the trash, but not just any card; it is probably a prototype of what could be the fastest gaming GPU of all time.
What was fished out of the trash? Reddit user This_Explanation_514 posted in the Nvidia Subreddit several pictures of a massive graphics card, four slots wide, and the design is unmistakably: Nvidia Founders Edition.
According to his report, he found it in the trash. Reddit, as well as us, clearly recognize a legend: the Nvidia Geforce RTX 4090 Ti, which was leaked multiple times during the Nvidia 4000 series – also known as the “TITAN successor.” The Reddit user likely found the fastest gaming GPU of all time in the garbage.
However, the Nvidia Geforce RTX 4090 Ti has never been officially released, even though it has been seen multiple times in leaks in the past. It is likely that the supposed find is a prototype (via wccftech).
Hardware power on the scale that a theoretical RTX Geforce 4090 Ti would provide could surely make Cyberpunk 2077 look better than on any other PC. Here’s the trailer for the Ultimate Edition for you:

What kind of card is this exactly? The prototype of the Nvidia Geforce RTX 4090 Ti, presumably existing (but never officially confirmed), would be the successor to the Nvidia TITAN RTX. That was the best card from Nvidia’s 2000 series and cost 2,700 euros at release (via computerbase).
An Nvidia Geforce RTX 4090 Ti would likely overshadow the TITAN RTX by a long shot. The base version alone still lists for nearly 2,700 euros on Amazon. An old Titan RTX
can be found used on Ebay for around 800 euros.
Why is the graphics card so large? The dimensions of the card are explained by a different fan design to dissipate the enormous heat. Additionally, the heat sink itself is simply larger. At Igorslab, you can see a visual comparison with the Titan and more details about the size comparison with the Nvidia Geforce RTX 4090, which is only three slots wide. This refers to the usual slots at the back of PC cases where the card’s connections can be found.
Why was the 4090 Ti never released? Nvidia has never publicly commented on this. However, it seems that the chip giant never had a reason to release a card with performance beyond the Geforce RTX 4090. The latter is to this day the fastest gaming GPU by far, as data from Techpowerup shows. Only the upcoming announcement and release of the 5000 series by Nvidia in 2025 is likely to change this status. But it remains a speculation; there may be other reasons from Nvidia’s side as well.
