Gamer crowns the officially best game of all time – evaluates over 700 rankings for it

A player has looked at over 700 rankings to determine the truly best game of all time, but the other positions are interesting as well.

What are these rankings? The gamer did not just look at one list, but rather 700 different rankings in 15 languages. In doing so, he eliminated any lists based on user opinions and only counted lists created by game editorial teams.

Not only rankings that look at all time, but also annual lists and genre lists were included in his analysis. He published his evaluation on his website, and the best game of all time is not that old.

The best game of all time is no surprise

What is the best game of all time? The truly best game of all time is The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild from 2017. The game topped numerous rankings, whether it be annual overviews or all-time lists.

Our editor-in-chief Leya Jankowski also thought the game was really good in 2017. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is considered by many to be a masterpiece, rightly so. But other games on the list are also surprises.

What is the best game of the decade? If you look at the list on the player’s website (via acclaimedvideogames.com), there is also the option to filter by decades. Our current decade is led by Elden Ring, which ranks only 23rd on the list.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is only at 44th place overall, closely followed by Hades in 46th position. So far, only five games from the 2020s have made it into the Top 100 on the list.
