Most of you probably know it: You’re playing a PvP game like a shooter such as Call of Duty or a MOBA, and at the worst moment, your internet lags, and you die. Apparently, this also happened to a gamer who blamed an internet billionaire for it. But the investor’s reaction surprised him.
What’s behind the story? An angry gamer who goes by the username “JimmyBLLT” on X.com challenged internet billionaire Xavier Niel to a fight in front of a Lidl in Marseille, France.
In a post from May 20, 2024, the gamer wrote: “Xavier Niel, I hate you. I offer you a 1v1 in front of the Lidl on Rue Sainte in Marseille.” (via X)
According to the online magazine Dexerto, the user later explained that he lost control when he got taken out in Call of Duty because he was lagging.
Billionaire Surprises Gamer
How did the internet billionaire respond? To the surprise of the gamer, the billionaire actually showed up for the meeting and posted a photo on November 15, showing himself in front of the Lidl in question. Niel wrote, “I’m in.”
In contrast to the billionaire, the CoD player did not show up for the meeting, which resulted in a lot of mockery on X.
The gamer himself had various explanations. In one comment, he wrote that Niel hadn’t even informed him that he would really come to the Lidl. In other comments, JimmyBLLT explained that he had been sick and had a fever.
Maybe the gamer should have challenged the billionaire to a 1v1 in Call of Duty instead, as it would likely have been easier to find a time when both were available and not feverish.
