A gamer bought an Intel processor on Amazon. But he is quite surprised when he receives the purchased product. Because the box contains no processor.
A player wanted to upgrade his gaming system and bought an Intel processor for that purpose. He chose the i9-12900K, which is still considered a powerful high-end processor today.
But when he opens his package, he is quite astonished, as there is no CPU in the processor box. This is also clearly indicated by the official label from Amazon, which states ‘processor missing.’ The error is more than obvious.
Special number indicates routine goods
What went wrong? According to various reports, the user received a return shipment that does not contain a CPU. This is indicated by the LPN sticker. LPN stands for ‘License plate number’ and is used to mark returns.
Such stickers correctly identify the items and correctly assign them for return. Third-party vendors who process their sales through Amazon can also track goods that are returned via Amazon using these numbers.
Additionally, such stickers allow for verifying whether a buyer really returned the item or instead put a brick in the box instead of a CPU. This happened to a family, who received a fake product instead of a graphics card.
Fraud and errors occur frequently with major vendors
Can you protect yourself against such things? Many people now advise making a video when unpacking particularly expensive hardware:
- Because if you then hold counterfeit goods or just a wrong product in your hands, you at least have the evidence on your side.
- Moreover, you can prove that you did not exchange the goods, but that someone must have been the villain before you.
Here, the return should ideally proceed less problematically, as it is clearly recognizable on the packaging that the case was already delivered without a processor. Amazon has at least noticed this directly in the warehouse.
