A player upgraded his gaming PC with an RTX 5090 for 2,600 euros. However, after a month, he wants to return the graphics card. Because he is not really satisfied.
This was the reason for the upgrade: The player explained on Reddit that he bought an RTX 3090 Ti for 1,600 euros to skip the 4000 series. Now he wanted to upgrade his computer again with the 5000 series.
He explained: Depending on the day, he spends between 4 and 10 hours on the PC gaming, so it would be worth it for him to upgrade.
Eventually, he had the chance to buy an RTX 5090 from a major retailer at the official MSRP and ended up paying 3,000 US dollars (about 2,600 euros). But after a month, he wants to return the graphics card. Because he has not been convinced.
Too much money for too little extra performance compared to the RTX 3090 Ti

- The new graphics card cost him 2,600 euros, but it offers no noticeable improvement in performance compared to his old graphics card (RTX 3090 Ti).

What is the validity of the arguments? The performance of the RTX 5090 increases only marginally compared to older high-end GPUs. This is reported, among others, by the German magazine ComputerBase in its test. The performance increase, when coming from the previous generation, is often not as great in everyday use as the price suggests.
Also, the second point is valid criticism: The 5000 series has long been criticized for technical problems, high power consumption, and potentially melting cables. Nvidia has since addressed the melting cables in the RTX 5000 series.
The criticism of the current pricing policy and exaggerated expectations is also understandable. Many users feel that the price development is excessive, and the actual performance leaps no longer justify the costs for many. Many players assume that due to the sharply increased prices, they can no longer afford PC gaming in the long run.
