At CitizenCon, Cloud Imperium Games presented new gameplay footage from Alpha 3.3 of Star Citizen. Additionally, there was gameplay from the single-player spin-off Squadron 42. And these videos are exciting.
A mission from the MMO Star Citizen was showcased along with a trailer from Squadron 42. Both videos make you eager to finally play the game yourself.
An Exciting Mission
This is what Star Citizen looks like now: Chris Roberts and Cloud Imperium presented around 1.5 hours of gameplay from Star Citizen. The team introduced the planet Hurston and demonstrated how to buy spaceships in the game. There were even ground battles.
- You start in a bar, where you can also get drunk
- Then you meet with a client. For this one, you are to recover a crashed satellite
- Now you assemble a team of other players, travel to the airport, and board your ship with your crew
- You fly to the crash site of the satellite, where enemies are already waiting for you, leading to an intense battle
- Afterward, you collect the reward and buy a new ship with it
Squadron 42 Is Huge!
Squadron 42 leaves a very good impression: Additionally, there was a new, spectacular video of the single-player spin-off Squadron 42.
In this, Cloud Imperium Games showcased among other things the new look of Mark Hamill and also actors John Rhys-Davies, Gary Oldman, and Gillian Anderson appear. The game is set to tell an exciting story.
This video already gives a good insight, with the dark Vanduul boarding a ship. The roadmap for Squadron 42, which shows how the game will be developed further in the coming months, is to be released before the end of the year.
This is how fans react: While core fans are excited, others remain skeptical. The CitizenCon 2018 did not change the attitude towards Star Citizen.
For example, player SPC1974 writes on PCGamer: “That’s all nice and well… but seriously, why focus on the icing when the ingredients for the actual cake aren’t even ready?”
