The PTS (Player Test Server) are online in The Division 2. There, PC players can test content from the upcoming update, such as the fourth specialization, the Gunner. Now there is first gameplay showing its new minigun in action.
This is the new Gunner: The fourth specialization of The Division 2 revolves around the new personal weapon, the minigun. There is also a new skill tree with which you can unlock various perks and advantages.
YouTuber NickTew has now released first gameplay that gives a look at the skill tree and the minigun in action. He cuts through several enemies relatively easily. We summarize the key insights from the video.
The Gunner in Action – “You can be Boomers yourselves”
The video shows: First, you get a look at the skill tree and what the Gunner can unlock with specialization points. Then NickTew showcases the minigun in action.
This is the new minigun:
- Shots per minute: 1000
- Shots per magazine: 150
- Properties:
- A Good Offense: When you draw the minigun, you gain bonus armor for each bullet in the magazine. The bonus can increase up to +50%. Each hit also regenerates 1% armor.

How does the minigun perform in action? In the gameplay video, NickTew first takes out some enemies on the streets of D.C. There is also a duel between him and a heavy tank with its own minigun. This is decided quickly; he dispatches all enemies in his way with ease. This is also the case in the mission Bank Headquarters, which he starts afterward.
It is noticeable that ammunition might run low, as NickTew rarely has more than 300 shots. Unfortunately, the video does not show what the maximum is. However, it is interesting that the minigun reloads its magazine very quickly.
The question remains how the Gunner performs in raids and heroic missions. Additionally, NickTew could hardly expand the skill tree.
Therefore, it remains to be seen how the new specialization will perform in the toughest activities.

What can the skill tree actually do? The skill tree is very similar to those of the other specializations, only that the effects are tailored to the Gunner:
- New on the PTS is that specializations now have the option to level up to 3 passive weapon bonuses. Therefore, unlike before, you can now combine any weapon class with any specialization and enhance them through perks.
- Also new: The damage of individual weapons now scales with the world tier.
- The Gunner can regenerate armor per kill with the perk “Incessant”. At level 1, 5% per kill is possible, and the perk can be upgraded to rank 3. Presumably, this allows up to 15% recovery.
- The Gunner’s armor kits heal not only 100% armor but also provide an armor bonus of +50% for 10 seconds.
- The individual skill variant “Banshee” is part of the tactical scan. This allows enemies to be confused and brought out of cover with a kind of impulse wave.
- You can also unlock an individual weapon mod that provides +50 rounds for LMGs.
- With the perk “Barrage,” the rate of fire per kill can also be increased. The effect lasts for 5 seconds. It is unclear whether the effect can stack or if it simply reactivates with each kill.

How do you unlock the specialization? There are five challenges that must be completed beforehand to unlock the Gunner. These can be completed on the PTS.
What exactly they are and what you need to do will be summarized for you in a guide, as always.
What else is being tested on the PTS can be read in the patch notes.
