The upcoming action RPG The First Berserker: Khazan is a kind of “Souls-lite” experience in anime style. You can currently try it for free on Steam. The first players are excited.
What kind of game is this? The First Berserker: Khazan is an upcoming action RPG in the universe of Dungeon Fighter Online. Players accompany the titular General Khazan on his quest for revenge after he is accused of treason and banished.
On the Steam page, the developers promise epic boss fights, a gripping revenge story, as well as a dynamic progression system and diverse skill combinations. The whole experience is presented in 3D cel-shaded graphics, reminiscent of Korean Manhwa.
This mix has already pleased thousands of players.
Souls-lite in anime style
Here’s how it’s being received so far: Although The First Berserker: Khazan is not set to be released until March 27, 2025, for PC, PS5, and Xbox, a demo has been available since January 16. The free demo attracted up to 4,400 players simultaneously on Steam over the weekend (via SteamDB).
With 89% recommendations, the demo currently has a “very good” rating (as of: January 20, 2025). The first players praise the visuals, the battles, and the performance. One user mentions that the gameplay is as fluid as water.
However, for hardcore Souls veterans, The First Berserker: Khazan may be too lenient. You earn experience points not only for defeating enemies but also simply for fighting. According to a player’s report, bosses also drop items even if they take you down.
The game rewards players for trying. This could make The First Berserker: Khazan a good entry point for Souls newcomers. Experienced players, however, are hoping for a mode with a tougher difficulty.
