There are rumors about a large AAA RPG related to Game of Thrones. Bethesda might be planning this as one of two new top games that could rival the size of Skyrim or Fallout.
Currently, there is a delicious rumor circulating that seems quite credible. One advantage: Whether it’s true or not, we should find out soon.
Bethesda is working on two major new titles
We know that Bethesda is currently planning two “large, new titles” that are supposed to be released before “The Elder Scrolls VI.” However, we do not know what exactly this entails. Neither at E3 2017 nor at Gamescom were major titles presented, instead, there were only new versions of Skyrim, which some people online have found quite amusing.
However, there are already quite clear indications of what these games might be:
- Firstly, the sci-fi RPG “Starfield,” for which Bethesda has already secured the title, and there are relatively credible leaks regarding it.
- And an AAA RPG based on “Game of Thrones.” There’s also a leak about this, and a large retailer in the USA, Target, has created a product page for “Bethesda: Game of Thrones.”
Some hope that the Game-of-Thrones game could be introduced today, during the last episode of the seventh season of the TV series “Game of Thrones,” with a commercial.
Game of Thrones as an RPG – the next big thing
Game of Thrones could become the next “big thing” . In an interview with IGN in June 2016, it was confirmed that Bethesda is working on two major projects, that will be as large as Fallout or Skyrim.
These are supposed to be games that are somewhat different from what Bethesda is known for, but still be the kind that makes you say afterward: “Alright, that fits them.” So far, nothing has been heard about either game, and it could soon be time for the titles to go public.
If Game of Thrones comes from Bethesda, it will probably only be as the “next game” after Starfield and likely after the end of the TV series Game of Thrones. It is assumed that the final season may not air until 2019.
Update 29.8.: As Forbes reports, a spokesperson from Target has distanced themselves from this “product page” related to Bethesda: Game of Thrones. They called it a “hoax,” a joke. They do not specify by whom. Target apologizes if this prank caused confusion.
The rumor about Starfield and Game of Thrones remains persistent, and has now been reignited:
Bethesda is working on a freemium AAA game – Also on “Game of Thrones”?
