Oh no, the new patch for Season 1 of Diablo 4 is not going down well at all. MeinMMO is gathering some voices from the community.
On July 20 at 7 PM, Season 1 of Diablo 4 starts. However, Update 1.1 with many changes went live on July 18.
Developer Blizzard has made many changes to the game, including 6 new unique items and 7 new legendary aspects. However, the patch notes did not go down well with many players. Find out here what is being complained about and what was well received.
“Slows down every part of the game”
What do players say about the patch? Even within minutes of the patch notes being released, the initial reactions made it clear that the changes were causing some frustration.
On MeinMMO, we have comments like: “I think the train has finally left” and “I’m not so sure.” Later, another comment added, “Fun has been reduced by 95%”.
But what is happening on Reddit is on a whole different level. The biggest thread about the update has gathered over 18,400 upvotes and 7,400 comments within 15 hours (as of 10:30 AM / July 19, 2023).
“Patch 1.1 essentially slows down every part of the game,” titles the thread creator “TheMorals” (via reddit.com). Here’s a brief overview to support his thesis. Here’s an excerpt:
- Classes nerfed
- Hell flood is slower
- Crit damage and vulnerability damage nerfed
- Experience bonuses have been nerfed
In the thread, thousands of players are discussing the adjustments, complaining about the ruined wizard class, and stating that their hype for the new season is at an all-time low.
But that was just the beginning:
- Blizzard should delay Season 1
- 6,200 upvotes via reddit.com
- I’m deleting the game, Blizzard has gone too far
- 9,300 upvotes via reddit.com
- The worst patch I’ve seen in 15 years of gaming
- 2,500 upvotes via reddit.com
- Criticism of the vulnerability nerf
- 5,000 upvotes via reddit.com
- Call to not play anymore
- 8,300 upvotes via reddit.com
As often, opinions are widely divided. The colleagues at GamePro reported that many players complained about the vulnerability effect being too strong before the release.
What was well received? Among all the negative threads, one topic stands out with 4,500 upvotes: “Patch 1.1 Positivity”. The thread creator writes that he hasn’t noticed anything positive himself, even though he claims to have read the patch notes twice. 1,500 comments see it differently.
- You now get more reputation for dungeons and quests – even retroactively
- Monsters with the cold enchantment no longer cause 1-hit freezes
- Holy and empowered items now have a maximum level of 60 and 80 respectively
- More experience for the Whispering Tree
- Lilith statues and map reveal are now activated account-wide
There were also good and sensible adjustments. However, the vast majority of players currently commenting on the patch online are not pleased.
Blizzard has also announced another Campfire Chat for Friday to discuss the adjustments. So we will have to wait and see how Season 1 of Diablo 4 will proceed.
