In Pokémon GO, the maximum amount of monsters and items in your bag is limited. Now, Niantic has increased the capacity. We at MeinMMO will show you the new limits.
What limit is it about? The most important goal in Pokémon GO is to go outside and catch Pokémon. Some items, such as balls and berries, are needed in this process. However, the amount of Pokémon and items that you can store in your respective bags is limited. You cannot expand these indefinitely using PokéCoins.
But all collecting trainers who are already at the storage limit can now breathe a sigh of relief. As the developers announced on the evening of July 10, 2024, via their X account, the maximum limit for items and Pokémon has been increased by 500 slots each, just before the upcoming GO Fest.
How many monsters and items you can now collect and who this is worth for, we have summarized for you below.
Increase of 500 slots for Pokémon & Items
These are the new limits for Pokémon & Items: After the limits for the Pokémon bag was raised to a maximum of 7,800 monsters in February 2024 and the item storage to 6,800, you can now enjoy another increase of 500 slots. The following limits are now available to you in the game:
- 8,300 in your Pokémon bag
- 7,300 in your item storage
How can you get the expansions? To be able to use the new storage limit, you need to invest your valuable PokéCoins and purchase the corresponding expansions in the in-game shop. Each costs 200 coins and unlocks 50 additional slots after purchase. Expanding your Pokémon and item bags is therefore quite costly.
However, if you need other items for the upcoming GO Fest in addition to the expansions, you can also take advantage of one of the offers in the in-game shop or the Pokémon GO webshop and in this way save some coins or money. Currently, the following boxes can be found there:
- Super Storage Box in the in-game shop for 550 coins (can be purchased up to three times)
- Contents: 1x Pokémon Expansion, 1x Item Expansion, 1x Premium Battle Pass, and 1x Remote Raid Pass
- Hyper Storage Box in the Pokémon GO webshop for 5.99 euros
- Contents: 1x Pokémon Expansion, 1x Item Expansion, 1x Premium Battle Pass, 1x Remote Raid Pass, 1x Incubator, and 1x Super Incubator
Who benefits from the high limits?
The storage limits for Pokémon and items in Pokémon GO are now relatively high and are therefore not fully utilized by most players. Especially players who regularly sort their bags usually have no problems with the available spaces.
This is also reflected in the comments on social networks. A user by the name of anon636391 writes on Reddit: That’s a big step forward when I think about my space of 6700 Pokémon and 4300 items.
However, many trainers are also pleased with the increase of the limit, such as the user Parrichan, who writes on Reddit: These 500 additional slots in the bag will work wonders for me, nice.
Especially players who are collecting for a Living Dex or have many teams for raids and PvP battles need plenty of space. Through events like GO Fest, several hundred caught monsters can pile up quickly in one day, which also need space in the bag until they can be sorted in peace.
