Sam has to save the day and Frodo keeps doing everything wrong – even in Baldur’s Gate 3. Same as always.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is a massive success. Most people probably know the huge RPG from Larian, and the many awards at the ‘Game Awards’ have only contributed to making the game even more popular. In a short video, two of the most famous fantasy heroes ever play the game, namely Frodo and Sam from ‘The Lord of the Rings’ – or rather their two actors, Elijah Wood and Sean Astin.

What can be seen in the video? The two actors, known mainly from ‘The Lord of the Rings’, talk with Larian’s boss Swen Vincke, who invites them to a round of ‘Baldur’s Gate 3’ to experience what all this hype is about.
Elijah Wood seems to be taken with the idea of an origin character and plays ‘The Dark Desire’ – probably the bloodiest and most brutal way to experience Baldur’s Gate 3. Sean Astin decides on a tiefling and seems to be going about it in a more good-natured way.
This ultimately leads to both small and large conflicts. He not only succumbs to the necromantic book but also casually chops off a ‘helping wizard’s’ hand or kicks a little squirrel with full force.
While Elijah Wood is fully immersed in the necromancy book, Astin already senses that this won’t end well. After the Larian boss ensures that Wood jumps to his death, he is swiftly looted by Astin – but the book seems to be bound to him because even his corpse refuses to let it go.
Ultimately, Astin has no choice but to throw his friend into the lava, not only to free the world from the Dark Desire but also to burn the necromancy book.
Even though the video is ultimately mainly an advertisement for Baldur’s Gate 3 and the Xbox version, it’s still nice to see how the two actors behave in Baldur’s Gate 3 and the interesting conversations that arose from the actions in the game.
After all, Sam had to save the world once again …
