The makers of the multiplayer slasher “Friday the 13th: The Game” (PC, PS4, Xbox One) feel guilty about the problems at launch, so there is a patch today with free stuff for everyone. The free DLC brings outfits and skins. They are also addressing the issues.
We reported on the issues of Friday the 13th: The Game. In short: The rush was so immense that some things broke and did not run as they should, leading to login difficulties, lost progress, and so on.
The game launched at the end of May, aiming to be a summer hit, especially since it was released for PS4 and Xbox One. However, the developers were not prepared to suddenly be the game of the hour.
The horror slasher Friday the 13th is more of a niche title, funded through Kickstarter, but its party nature, strong license, and Twitch-friendliness at launch made quite an impact. This caused difficulties. With today’s update, the developers say “Sorry,” but since that alone might not be enough, they are adding a lot of free stuff.

June 20 brings free update with these goodies for Friday the 13th
With an update today on June 20, the developers want to make some amends. These goodies are coming for all players:
- every player receives 13,000 customization points to further customize their character
- there is a double XP weekend starting on June 23 and ending on June 25
- two new outfits for each survivor, the counselors
- and a “Retro Jason Skin” for the killer
However, a lot is happening with the game overall. On June 17, Patch 1.03 was released on Steam for Friday the 13th: The Game, which increased stability and addressed a host of issues. Here are the Steam patch notes for Friday the 13th: The Game 1.03.
