The horror action game Friday the 13th is getting an update for Halloween that is supposed to explain to players how to play Tommy Jarvis correctly.
Tommy Jarvis is a character from three of the “Friday the 13th” movies and is also featured in the horror action game. The villain Jason has a particular interest in him, as his mother was the only one who could inflict a severe defeat on the murderer. In the game, Tommy plays a very special role.
Tommy Must Protect Others
When you play as Tommy, it is when a Counselor (one of the players who need to survive) finds a radio in the game and can bring back a player who has already been killed. This player then returns as Tommy. Tommy has all stats at maximum value, fears little, and enters the game with a shotgun. This would make him the ideal hunter, but that is not his role at all. His part is to protect the Counselors in the game.
However, many seem to have misunderstood this, as a new update for Friday the 13th makes it clearer what role Tommy is supposed to play. These are only minor adjustments, such as commands that clarify that Tommy is neither to hunt Jason nor run away, but must protect the Counselors so that they can survive.
Tommy also no longer makes comments like “I have to get out of here,” as this misled players into thinking that Tommy had to run away. Additionally, Tommy gets bonus XP when he sacrifices himself for Jason, provided other living Counselors are nearby.
This should now clarify how you have to play this character: Sacrifice yourself for the others and protect them from Jason.
New Opportunities for Jason, a New Counselor, and More
The update for Friday the 13th also brings the new Counselor Fox, who can defend herself well against Jason. Also included are the “Jarvis Tapes,” which contain messages revolving around Tommy Jarvis and illuminate his backstory.
Additionally, Jason gets more opportunities to eliminate other players with kitchen utensils and tools like stovetops or screwdrivers, and some bug fixes are also making their way into the horror game.
Recently, a new DLC for Friday the 13th was released, which is based on the fourth part of the film series and brought a new map among other things.
