Revelation Online has released the largest update in the history of the MMORPG. It includes many new features, as well as revisions to the success system and interface. Is it worth trying the game now?
What is Revelation Online? The Free2Play MMORPG comes from China and features exciting battles in a colorful world. It was released in 2017 and initially garnered significant interest.
Revelation Online offers you:
- A huge fantasy world
- 7 different classes
- The ability to fly with wings
- Various dungeons and raids for up to 20 players
- Guild and arena PvP
- Fortress battles in the open world
However, the MMORPG has been struggling with low player numbers for some time. On Steam, where Revelation Online was released with significant delays, the game initially had triple-digit player numbers. In the last 30 days, however, only an average of 52 players have been watching it (via Steamcharts).
The turning point is expected to be the major update Skyward World, which was released on March 23.
Update brings new content and improves old systems
What does the update bring? Skyward World provided the MMORPG with the following new features:
- A new storyline and new areas
- New abilities for all 7 classes
- A new 10-player raid
- The progression system “Book of Enchantments”, allowing players to collect enchantments.
- A new, cross-server PvP mode
- A revision of the success system.
- A revision of the interface and tutorials
- New rewards for the third anniversary
According to developer NetEase and publisher MyGames, this is said to be the largest update that Revelation Online has received since its release.
How are the reactions to the update? Below the trailer, several comments have accumulated, which couldn’t be more different:
- On one side, many players are excited about the update. They hope that new players will be attracted, so that the EU servers do not close, as User Sannidor writes.
- On the other side, commentators refer to the Free2Play MMORPG as pay-to-win and a dead game, as is the case with users Alex x and Sneaky.
Notably, the reviews from the last 30 days on Steam have been 70% positive. However, with the low number of 24 comments, this is not very meaningful. User OxyG@ming writes about Revelation Online:
- “Yes, the game has pay-to-win elements. But nowadays you can play and have fun without paying. More and more players are returning to Revelation Online and that is a good thing.”
A game for fans of Asian MMORPGs and wings
Who is Revelation Online worth it for? Revelation Online was already described as a very typical Asian MMORPG at release. The focus is on the combat system and the varied dungeons. Highlights also include the flight system, which is similar to Aion, and the battles for cities and outposts.
However, those who cannot relate to these contents and the colorful graphics will have a hard time in Revelation Online. Additionally, there are complaints about the localization.
Around the game, the colleagues from MMOByte provide an overview in a video:
Is it worth it in times of Corona? The latest update has made changes to the interface and tutorials. So it’s a good time to check out the game as a newcomer.
Since Revelation Online is free to play, you have nothing to lose and can use the (unwanted) time at home to discover a new and exciting game world.
However, in high-end PvP, you may be required to spend money to compete at the top. Keep this in mind if you want to dive into the adventures in Nuanor.
