Redmatch 2 appears cheap and unremarkable at first glance. Pill-shaped figures shoot at each other with the usual weapons in very contrived-looking maps. However, the graphics hide a bit of what makes the game so good: You can fly through the maps at top speed like a shooting Spider-Man.
On Steam, Redmatch 2 is briefly described as: “A free, fast-paced online multiplayer FPS where you improve your stats with kills!”
That may sound relatively unspectacular – though fun – but the ratings are a bit surprising. The game ranks high in the Steam trends and has almost 3,500 ratings, of which a total of 93% are positive (via Steam).
Those who then try Redmatch 2 quickly realize why: The game initially plays a bit like CoD but gets faster and faster with each kill. However, the absolute highlight is hardly advertised by the game:
You can swing through the maps with two infinitely long grappling hooks at what feels like 200 km/h, as if you are a mix of Rambo and Spider-Man.

What makes Redmatch 2 special? Anyone who has played the F2P shooter hit Krunker.io will recognize certain similarities to Redmatch 2. But there are also some special extra features:
- Very simple graphics mean that you can play the game on any device and even in the browser.
- Game has ultra-fast basic gameplay.
- 16 very different maps.
- Up to 40 players on the maps can create absolute chaos.
- 3 weapons that you can equip with your own sights:
- AK-47
- Shotgun
- Sniper
- 2 grappling hooks that you can use infinitely often, quickly, and over any distance.
- With each kill, you collect points that you can invest in statistics:
- Health points: From 100 – 200.
- Speed: From about CoD pace to something that feels about five times faster.
- Jump power: From a small hop to gigantic jumps that almost completely ignore gravity.

How does the game play? Together, all these features create a truly trance-like form of ultra-fast action:
- You can swing along walls or climb towers with the grappling hooks, something you can’t even do with Spider-Man hands in Fortnite.
- You dash and jump through the maps while shooting at enemies in passing.
- You can even swing completely under the map to jump meters into the air at the other end while racking up kills with the sniper.
The game thus mixes a popular, fast-paced shooter gameplay, as known and loved from CoD, with completely insane and breakneck speed. And when 40 people play in maps that would be too small even for 20 players, the fun chaos is perfect.
Redmatch 2 can entertain at its pace but can also quickly create a kind of overload.
But especially because it is free and you can easily start a quick round, the game is perfect for a few casual, chaotic matches with friends.
