For over 33 years, the Phantasy Star series has existed. Its latest installment of the franchise: Star Online 2: New Genesis has already been released on Steam and Xbox. The PS4 version of the game was launched on August 31, 2022.
The game blends sci-fi and fantasy elements and offers players an open world with story quests as well as classic MMORPG elements, where players can also compete against each other.
PSO 2: NG is available for free and enables cross-play across all available platforms.

How is PSO 2: NG currently performing on Steam? In June 2022, the average player count was still at 3,271 players on Steam. Currently, the player numbers on the platform are slightly declining, with a 24-hour peak of 2,364 players (via steamcharts.com).
On August 5, 2020, PSO 2: New Genesis was released on Steam. Since then, the average player count has ranged from around two to sixteen thousand people.

What is offered in PSO2: NG? With New Genesis, the game receives a fundamental remake of the gameplay system and the graphics engine. There are also no central stations from which players explore the world. Instead, PSO2: NG offers more of an open-world character. On top of that, there is a new story with new characters.
Can you jump in with PSO2: NG? The setting is over 1,000 years after the events of PSO 2, so you do not necessarily have to have played the previous games to catch up in the game.
How many classes are there in PSO2:NG? Players can choose from nine different main classes in PSO2:NG, including Hunter, Fighter, or Ranger. Additionally, there is one more subclass that can be chosen based on individual playstyle. There are 17 weapon types to choose from, which can be selected based on the class.

Is there multiplayer in PSO2: NG? In the game, you have the option to play as a single player, completing story quests and real-time battles while exploring the game world around you.
On the other hand, you can also play PSO2: NG with friends. You can form groups of up to four people and conquer the exploration sectors together. A total of up to 32 people can participate.
In addition to the exploration sectors, players also have access to Urgent Quests. These offer more challenging enemies and bosses that you can face with up to eight players or two groups.
