What scams does the community know about? In Path of Exile 2, there are some scams that are already known to the pros and veterans from the predecessor. On Reddit, some players have come together to warn new players about the old scams. The following types of scams are common:
- Players offer corrupted items – these can no longer be changed and are therefore often worth less
- Since trading takes place via chat, players simply change your prices in their message instead of sending a purchase request for less money
- Scammers often cancel the purchase and put in the same item with different values, which is therefore worth less
- Scammers set items much too cheaply on the website to entice victims to undercut the already low price, then they buy it from the victim
- Players want to trade items for items and first list their items at excessively high prices to increase their trade value
What tips do players give? The most important thing is to always check every trade and every value of the items offered to you, based on the price you set earlier, and not the one that the other person has given you. Three points where the alarm bells should ring for you:
- If a player cancels the trade and starts it again or removes items from the trade window and puts them back in
- If a player wants to trade item for item, although you have listed your item for currency
- If you receive a lot of messages in a short period of time, you have probably set your item too cheaply, even if there are comparable prices
