Fortnite Season 4 – Chapter 2 introduced some superheroes as skins to the game. However, the YouTuber LazarBeam now explains 3 of them as Pay2Win because their abilities and appearance create an advantage. He demonstrates this in a video.
What skins are these? In collaboration with Marvel, Epic brought various superheroes from its universe to Fortnite. Even the Battle Pass of Season 4 consists entirely of Marvel characters. Other outfits appear in the Item Shop and can be purchased separately.
However, the appearance of some Marvel skins is said to be Pay2Win according to a YouTuber.
New skins can provide an advantage
Why are exactly these skins said to be Pay2Win? The YouTuber LazarBeam demonstrates in a video what advantage the 3 skins Groot, Mystique, and Silver Surfer can have when used correctly.
It mainly concerns the ability to camouflage in the Fortnite world. The skins can blend in with their surroundings, making the player “invisible.” Mystique’s ability to transform into any skin she has eliminated before the transformation is supposed to help her blend in among AI bots.
As the YouTuber says: “It’s amazing what you can do in Fortnite when you spend money.” Therefore, he talks about Pay2Win here.
How does the tactic work with Mystique? With this skin, the YouTuber uses the built-in emote that allows Mystique to transform into any skin she has eliminated prior to the transformation.
For this tactic to be advantageous, he applies it to the AI bots scattered across the map. Then he blends in and pretends to be a bot. His opponents do not expect a “strong” opponent and tend to play carelessly.
But this is not the only superhero ability you can use in the game. However, you first need to take out mini-bosses:
How does the tactic work with Silver Surfer and Groot? With these two skins, it’s all about their own appearance, with which they can camouflage at various locations. Silver Surfer is limited to camouflage by the silver statue of Doctor Doom.
Groot can hide more easily among trees because he has a tree-like appearance. If used in the right place, he can hide and surprise his opponents out of nowhere.
With Groot, the YouTuber actually won a round in the end because he went undiscovered until the top 5.
It was also the case with the cardboard skins, which were labeled Pay2Win by YouTube colleague Muselk. They could blend perfectly into the Fortnite world, causing quite a scare that threw other players off their game.
