As Epic announced at this year’s GDC, Fortnite: Battle Royale will soon receive a replay feature. What is behind it and how powerful will this tool be? A first clip from Epic itself shows how spectacular such a video could look.
The streamers of Fortnite: Battle Royale are popular not least because they have spectacular actions. Fortnite’s tools provide plenty of room for exciting gameplay situations. Apparently, Epic now wants to make an appropriate feature accessible to all players to capture these “clutch” moments in the game.
Since the update 3.3.0, various files pointing to different functions such as replay, theater mode, and screenshots have been found in the game folder – the final confirmation from Epic took place at the Games Developer Conference 2018 (GDC)!
Now everyone can edit their highlights!
Epic wants to give all players the ability to edit and customize their gameplay immediately after it happens with the replay feature. You can see what videos you are allowed to create this way in the following video:

Watching your own gameplay right after finishing a round can also help in finding and analyzing mistakes – and with these insights, you can improve!
You will access the replay feature via the replay browser, which will be located in the UI (possibly as a separate menu item at the top of the lobby). Through this browser, you will likely be able to edit replays and access all saved replays.
Screenshots from game files released by data miners also show that zoom options, screenshots, and even HUD toggle functionality are expected to be possible.
When will the replay feature come to Fortnite: Battle Royale?
Unfortunately, this is not known. At least the supported platforms have been announced by Epic during the GDC. Thus, the replay feature will be released on PC and consoles. When and if the replay functionality will come to smartphones is not known.
