With only 5 equipment slots in the inventory, it can be difficult to decide which weapons and items to take. Although some weapons and items were removed for the new chapter, the selection is still large.

Standard Weapons in Fortnite: Battle Royale
The standard rifles in Fortnite include assault rifles. They are useful at short, medium, and long distances. Thus, it is definitely a weapon you should have in your inventory.
As long as you don’t find an assault rifle, you can rely on a pistol. In this new chapter, it received an upgrade and is now available in all rarities.
The standard weapons include:

Melee Weapons in Fortnite
Melee weapons include all weapons that only deal damage at close range. Since shotguns and pump guns are now available in all rarities, they are particularly effective in close combat.
The submachine gun is also an alternative for close combat. It doesn’t deal as much damage per shot as the pump gun, but it fires much faster.
A combination of the pump gun and the submachine gun is also worthwhile if the first shot from the pump gun is not effective enough and you want to shoot quickly afterward.
Ranged Weapons in Fortnite
A ranged weapon is needed, as the name suggests, for fights from a distance. Through the scope, you can see far and recognize enemies from afar. However, using a sniper isn’t quite easy and requires some practice.
Currently, there is only the sniper rifle in Fortnite. It is now available in all rarities.
Explosive Weapons in Fortnite
If you want to blow up enemies and buildings, you should have an explosive weapon in your inventory. Explosive weapons deal a lot of damage, but the risk is high in close combat that you hit yourself while using them.
Currently, there is only the rocket launcher and grenades as explosive weapons in the game. The rocket launcher is more frequently found in chests now, as it is available from unusual rarity.
Grenades are situationally useful, but we wouldn’t place them in the top 5 loadout slots.
Weapon from Fortnite Chapter 2
Recently, a new weapon was introduced that is versatile. The harpoon pistol can be useful for fishing or eliminating enemies. It is worth having such a weapon in your inventory.
Even the Twitch streamers Tfue, SypherPK, and NickEh30 seem to like the new weapon.
If you want to snag the rewards for the mythical goldfish, the harpoon pistol can be useful.
Healing Items and Shield Potions in Fortnite
These items are particularly important for regenerating your health and shields. It is worth carrying such an item in your inventory. You will need them after a fight.
If you can’t find healing items or shield potions, it is worth fishing for fish. They also provide health and shields.
You can find these healing items in the game:
- Med Kits (Max 3): Fully restore health
- Bandages (Max 15): Restore 15 health points up to a maximum of 75
- Bandage Bazooka: Requires 2 slots in the inventory
- Fish: 25-50 health points per fish
You can find these shield items in the game:
- Mini Shield Potions (Max 6): Provide 25 shield points each up to a maximum of 50
- Shield Potions (Max 3) – 50 shield points on use
- Slurp Juice Fish: Restores up to 50 health points per fish
Which 5 weapons and items should you ideally take with you?
Ideally, you should have these weapons and items equipped in your inventory:
- A standard weapon like the assault rifle
- A melee weapon like the tactical shotgun
- A sniper rifle for fights from a distance
- A rocket launcher for explosive fun
- A healing or shield item
Depending on your play style, the equipment may vary. If you prefer to attack directly, the sniper rifle may not be worth it. Instead, you could take a pump gun and a submachine gun.
If you are not a fan of explosive weapons, you can leave the rocket launcher behind and instead take another healing or shield item.
Alternatively, the harpoon pistol is also an option, as it is versatile. Therefore, it could be worth a place in the inventory.
