In Fortnite , the World Championship duo of Aqua and Nyhrox has split – and not on good terms. The Austrian Aqua has apparently dumped his Norwegian partner. He has now found a better one in the Austrian Stompy. The Norwegian is reacting slightly upset.
What kind of team is that? The 17-year-old David “Aqua” W. from Austria and Emil “Nyhrox” Bergquist Pedersen from Norway won the Fortnite World Championship in duo together. That was last Saturday.
After 6 games, they were in 1st place with 51 points and received a total of 3 million USD in prize money. The two belong to the London team “Cooler Esport’s.”
It was an outsider win; hardly anyone had counted on the Fortnite duo beforehand. The actual favorites were the Austrians Tschiinken/Stompy and Benyjifish/MrSavage, who only finished in a mediocre position.
Austrian dumps Norwegian
Why are they separating now? The Norwegian recently wrote, visibly annoyed, on Twitter:
“So, after the recently poor performances, I am looking for a new duo partner. Because my previous partner let me down so he could improve with someone else.”
The tweet has now been deleted, but sounds quite pissed off.
Both Aqua and Stompy had qualified for both the duo World Championship and the solo World Championship – but their respective partners only for duo, not for solo.
Just a few minutes before the tweet, the Austrian Aqua announced that he will play with Stompy, another Austrian who is regarded as an outstanding player.
Nyhrox, the Norwegian, had tweeted that he is leaving the Cooler ESport’s team and will continue as a “Free Agent”.
Austrian finds another Austrian simply better
This is what Aqua says: He apologizes, saying he started it awkwardly and didn’t want to have any “beef” with Nyhrox on Twitter. They had played together for a long time, but Aqua believes he and Stompy fit better together in Fortnite.
Just because one became a world champion does not mean that one is the best duo in the world and Aqua cannot improve with someone else.
However, Nyhrox and he are friends, and he wishes him all the best for the future, Aqua writes.

What is going on? This is a very strange situation that a world champion duo is separating immediately after a huge success.
Apparently, Aqua must believe that he is better off with Stompy than with the Norwegian. Stompy also seems to be dissatisfied with his duo performance during the World Championship.
Both Aqua and Stompy had qualified for both the duo World Championship and the solo World Championship – but their respective partners only for duo, not for solo.
