In Fortnite: Battle Royale there are tons of cosmetic items in the cash shop. But what to do if a previous purchase no longer suits you? In this case, you can now return skins and emotes and get your V-Bucks back.
What is the Fortnite shop all about? Fortnite: Battle Royale is a free-to-play game that finances itself through sales from the cash shop. There you can find skins, emotes, gliders, harvesting tools, starter packs, and the premium battle pass.
Payments are made with so-called V-Bucks, which you purchase with real money or sometimes earn in Fortnite (especially in the PvE mode).
So many skins, so little money
How can one quickly get the new skins with little money? Epic Games regularly releases new content for the shop, and some players are finding that the flood of cosmetic stuff is slowly costing them money. It would be great if you could return some of the older skins to afford the exorbitantly priced new skin that is currently being offered in the shop.
Epic temporarily disables the exchange action
WARNING: There was apparently a bug in the exchange system. The developers have therefore temporarily disabled the exchange function (3:00 PM on April 24). We will let you know here when it works again.
How does the return process work? And such a return option has been offered by Fortnite since update 3.6. You can now return up to three unwanted items from your inventory. The returns will be credited back to your V-Bucks. So you won’t see real money again.
To return items, you simply need to click the “Purchase History” button at the bottom right of the item shop. Then you can see what you have bought and with the “Refund Item” button, you can get the V-Bucks amount back.
Be careful with the exchange!
What can I return? The return option includes the following types of items:
- Emotes
- Gliders
- Harvesting tools
- Back bling
- Outfits/skins
What can I NOT return? The return option only includes cosmetic items that you have purchased directly from the shop. Therefore, it does not apply to:
- The battle pass
- Levels from the battle pass
- Starter packs
- Founder’s packs and their upgrades
- Loot Llamas from Save the World
- Event and weekly items from Save the World
How often can I return something? According to Epic Games’ patch notes, you can only return a total of three items ever. This likely applies for life. So think carefully about what you exchange. Additionally, the item must have been purchased within the last 30 days.
Epic shows generosity
Epic demonstrates its player-friendly and generous demeanor again. Already, with the compensations for the longer server downtime two weeks ago, they had already been quite generous.
When Epic shut down the shooter “Paragon”, they gave players back everything they had ever purchased in the game.
