Epic has announced in a blog post that the way most players Fortnite: Battle Royale play is about to change. They specifically want to introduce new gameplay methods in the endgame that lead to success. Currently, building is likely too important. Are we expecting profound changes?
Those who closely follow the regular updates to Fortnite: Battle Royale are probably not too surprised by this announcement: Epic finds the endgame in Battle Royale mode too one-dimensional.
Only rocket launchers, shotguns, and building currently lead to success in Fortnite
There are few tactics that lead to success: Epic specifically names three “culprits” that currently dominate the endgame:
- Rocket launchers
- Shotguns
- Theoretically infinite building possibilities

In fact, Epic has already made efforts in the past weeks to break this triumvirate:
- The damage of shotguns and tactical shotguns has been reduced,
- Rocket launchers take longer to reload since the last patch 4.4 and may carry a maximum of 12 rocket ammunition, and
- The finding of resources has been reduced, and the supply llama has also been nerfed
The fact that the Fortnite creators are now publishing this blog post shows primarily one thing: The adjustments are not enough! This may not be good news for pump and rocket lovers.
All gameplay styles should be able to lead to success!
Those who do not build a fortress lose: It is now considered a law that fortifications must be built in the endgame. Anyone hiding in a bush is guaranteed to lose. However, Epic wants all gameplay styles to still be able to lead to success.
For this reason, Epic will make further adjustments in the near future. While shotguns are still expected to be strong, other weapon classes still have a lot of room for improvement.

The issue of resources is also high on the agenda: Epic is considering introducing a cap on resources. Whatever is actually implemented could change the way players shape the endgame in Fortnite: Battle Royale.
What do you think about this? What do you believe Epic will do in the coming weeks?
