Today, the new update 5.21 has been rolled out to the servers for Fortnite. This brings the Heavy Sniper Rifle and two new limited-time modes for Battle Royale. New content is also coming to “Save the World”. We look at the patch notes in English.
This week, the Fortnite patch does not bring major balance changes, but mainly new modes and weapons. One can only hope, that the major issues in “Save the World” have been fixed. The community was close to an armed uprising as missions simply ended without delivering the promised rewards.
Here are the highlights of the patch notes for Fortnite: Battle Royale
New Weapon: The Heavy Sniper Rifle is coming, as long announced. It is available in Epic (purple) and Legendary (gold). You can find the Heavy Sniper on the ground, in chests, in supply drops, and from vending machines.
The weapon deals 150/157 damage to players. It even inflicts 1050/1100 damage to buildings. The weapon reloads slowly, its bullets drop significantly slower than other rounds.
Minigun weaker: Headshots with the Minigun are now less dangerous. The multiplier decreases to 1.5 (previously 2.5).
New Limited-Time Modes Sniper Showdown, High Altitude for 50
New Mode: Sniper Showdown. Here only sniper rifles are active, the “Scoped Assault Rifles” which used to be allowed, are now out. The new “Heavy Sniper Rifle” from Fortnite is now active.
New Mode: High Altitude for 50. The twist of the mode is that you can deploy your glider again at heights starting from 10 meters. This works with the Space key. Additionally, there are more launch pads, bounce pads, and impulse grenades in this mode. Everything should feel a bit more “airy” in this mode for 50 players on each side.
The highlights of the patch notes for Fortnite Save the World
New Hero: The constructor Thora is available in the event shop. She will be available starting Wednesday at 2:00 AM. Looks like she will be a mythic hero focusing on traps and building repair.
Weekly Horde Challenge: This week, the challenge in Fortnite is about “bulletproof shells.” They must be completed with traps, hero abilities, or melee weapons. There is a reward of 1500 gold.
