Fortnite has now announced an official date for the start of Season 2 Chapter 2. We will show you when the season starts and what will change.
When does Season 2 start? The official date for the start of Season 2 has been confirmed by Epic. The next season will start on Thursday, February 20, 2020, with update 11.50.
With the new season, there will also be some changes in the game.
With Season 2, Fortnite changes the engine
Fortnite changes engine: Fortnite is switching to the “Chaos” physics engine of Unreal Engine with update 11.50 (start of the next season).
This new technology is supposed to hold a lot of potential for Fortnite. However, they want to start testing with a small group of players first, as there may be problems during the initial implementation.

What new content is there?
Epic does not want to reveal the surprise of what to expect in Season 2 just yet.
What is certain is that there will be bonus challenges. They aim to bring new challenges and a new two-week event before the end of the current season.
Unfortunately, it is not yet known what event we can expect. According to Epic, we should keep an eye on the Fortnite channels on social media for more information.
Leak has been confirmed
The data miner FireMonkey had seen in the data that the end date was changed to February 20, 2020. This was previously just a leak, and the date could still have changed. However, this date has now been officially confirmed.
This means we still have about 4 weeks to wait for Season 2.
How does the community react to the extension?
There are various reactions from players to the extension of Season 1 Chapter 2. While most seem outraged by the extension, there are also a few opinions showing understanding for Epic.
The majority of the community seems to be dissatisfied. Under the post from Fortnite on Twitter, they comment:
- “You should better give us a battle pass for this wait!”
- “You really need to pull yourselves together and increase the content, otherwise it will be hard to recover from the damage.”
- “No, it can’t be that the end has been postponed again.”
However, there are also a few players who understand Epic:
- “I am glad that you are investing time to get the best out of the game. I look forward to seeing what Season 2 will bring.”
- “Wow, they’re planning something big. I am looking forward to it.”
