Fortnite: Battle Royale and the streaming service Netflix are supposedly planning a crossover event. There will likely be an event for the successful series Stranger Things.
What is the crossover about? At E3 2019, the popular streaming service Netflix announced a new mobile game for Stranger Things via Twitter. However, what was even more interesting was written in a follow-up tweet. It said:
“In traditional E3 fashion, we’re giving you a few tasty teasers to chew on. Keep your eyes peeled for our upcoming projects with Behaviour, Ubisoft, Roblox, and Epic Games.”
Since Epic Games will likely not make a new Stranger Things game, it is probably a new crossover event. After the appearance of Thanos, the Avengers, and most recently John Wick, it is no longer a big surprise when other pop culture phenomena suddenly appear in Fortnite.
Players hope for a Stranger Things event in Fortnite
This is how fans are reacting: Many Fortnite fans were ecstatic under the tweet, demanding either a Fortnite mode for Stranger Things or a “Fortnite: The Movie.” Essentially, Netflix might have meant something like this, namely a series or a film that revolves around Fortnite.
This is why there will probably be a Stranger Things event soon: But no matter what plans Netflix may still have with Fortnite: That there will be an event for Stranger Things is quite likely. Just a month ago, players noticed that there is an ice cream stand called Scoops Ahoy in the game.
A similar ice cream parlor is also featured in Stranger Things. Epic would probably not patch such a place into the game if they didn’t have something planned for it.
When could the event kick off? On July 4, 2019, the long-awaited third season of Stranger Things will premiere on Netflix. That would also be a good date to launch the crossover event.
How both franchises benefit from a crossover
What is this Stranger Things anyway? Stranger Things is one of the most successful series on Netflix. Set in the 1980s, it revolves around a group of kids exploring gruesome and mysterious phenomena that plague their small town.
This is why a deal with Fortnite and Stranger Things makes sense: Thanks to the cleverly staged 80s nostalgia, the significant nerd factor, and the lovable characters, the series has gained numerous fans. Most of them are over 30 and thus no longer in the classic Fortnite age range.
But perhaps the event will change that and open up both Fortnite to Stranger Things fans and Stranger Things to Fortnite kids. After all, fearless kids of typical Fortnite age are the heroes of the series.
