In Fortnite, a weapon is no longer in the game but has been disabled. The Guided Missile caused serious issues. It made players invisible under certain conditions.
This is the problem: Players could become invisible when using a Shadow Stone while repeatedly pressing the fire button with a guided missile equipped.
Players are simply “invisible”; however, they can run around, pick up weapons, heal themselves, or kill opponents.
Such a bug requires immediate action once it becomes known. Otherwise, it spreads extremely quickly and causes frustration and annoyance like “Hey, who just killed me and why couldn’t I see him?”
This is how Epic responds: The Fortnite developers have temporarily removed the guided missile from the game. It will not appear in Fortnite again until the cause has been fixed.
Epic does not specifically state what the exact problem with the missile is, but it can only be the invisibility glitch.
These problems have occurred before: Ironically, both components involved in the bug had caused issues before:
- The guided missile was introduced in March, but was removed from Fortnite shortly after because it was simply too powerful. It was referred to as the “Flying Middle Finger of Death.” The new version is more a scout missile than a flying killer.
- Also, the Shadow Stones were already disabled shortly after their introduction because players could become permanently invisible with them.
Disabling items has now become a tradition in Fortnite. The game’s patch pace is rapid – a small patch comes out at least every week, a larger one every two weeks, and every 10 weeks the big “Season Patch.” There are often difficulties, to which Epic usually reacts quickly.
One can already wonder what stress the next new items will cause, like the Quad Rocket Launcher or this new monstrosity:
