In Fortnite a new update is coming today. We look at the patch notes for 8.01 in English. The bottle rockets are flying out again, but the treasure map is new in the game.
The first patch for Season 8 is coming to the servers today. Fortnite is taking new steps with the treasure map.
Highlights of the patch notes for Fortnite Battle Royale 8.01
This is what the treasure map can do: The treasure map is legendary and can be found on the ground and in chests. One can only carry one map.
The map shows where chests are buried. They contain legendary loot.
You have to dig with a pickaxe at the spot marked on the map.

The item is going out: The bottle rockets are disappearing from Fortnite again. They had only a short guest appearance. The bottle rockets just arrived in Fortnite in February.
They were a kind of mini-artillery to destroy buildings.
This item is becoming rarer: Infantry rifles and sticky grenades will be found less frequently in Fortnite.
- The infantry rifles, Ninja’s favorite weapon, (previously chest 14.41%/ ground 2.41%) drop to (13.39%/2.24%) – so they will only be slightly rarer.
- The sticky grenades drop from chest 9.42%/ ground 1.27% to 5.52% and 1.02% – so they will be significantly rarer.

New tournaments: The test events “Gauntlet Solo” and “Gauntlet Duos” are coming to the game.
Audio revisions:
- When a building is destroyed by a player, it is now louder if caused by an opponent.
- The footstep sounds have been improved: When stepping sounds are above/below, the sound now mixes and no longer switches between levels.
- Additionally, footstep sounds indoors now come from the opponent’s head.
- And the sounds of the normal assault rifle have been muffled; they were likely just too loud for the shooter.

Highlights of the patch notes for Fortnite Save the World
There was a huge change to the hero system last week. This week, it is quite calm in Save the World:
- Highland Warrior Wildcat (cover image) is in the shop.
- Additionally, some bugs with the hero selection and with heroes directly are being improved.
