Fortnite: Battle Royale has patch 9.40 and received a new shotgun. Additionally, you can no longer easily earn V-Bucks in PvE.
What’s in the new update 9.40: As previously announced, patch 9.40 introduces a new version of the tactical shotgun in epic and legendary qualities to the game. In fact, none of the 4 shotguns currently in the game are being removed, so we now have 5 shotguns available!
The features and content of patch 9.40 in PvP
New weapon – epic and legendary tactical shotgun: the durable tactical shotgun is getting a cool big sister in the epic and legendary tiers. It can be found on the ground, in chests, supply drops, and loot drones, as well as at vending machines.
- Availability: epic, legendary
- Damage: maximum 83/87 damage, headshots are multiplied by 2.25
- Ammunition: shotgun shells
- Magazine: 8
- Rate of fire: 1.5 shots per second
This weapon is removed: Contrary to what fans expected, none of the shotguns currently in the game are being removed. Instead, the suppressed bolt-action sniper rifle has been removed from the game.
This weapon is coming back: Instead of the suppressed bolt-action sniper rifle, the regular bolt-action sniper rifle has returned.
Weapon changes: The Combat shotgun will be nerfed. The headshot modifier will be reduced from 1.7 to 1.5, and the effectiveness at long range has been further reduced to align it with the other shotguns.
Additionally, the zoom for the semi-automatic sniper rifle has been reduced. And the Drum shotgun now deals less damage at greater distances.
Gameplay changes and bug fixes: Among other things, the following changes have been made to gameplay:
- When you pick up a stack of items, the surplus will now be dropped instead of the supply.
- Consumables that you have not yet fully replenished will now be automatically picked up.
- Bushes no longer block the effect of the slurp pack.
- When you use a shadow bomb and enter a vehicle, the effect of the shadow bomb will no longer last longer than intended.
- After using a rift-to-go, you will no longer glide unusually slowly with the glider.
- You can now use shield potions, bandages, etc. even while using a zipline.
- You can no longer exploit the emote “Deep Dab” as there is a delay after using it during which you cannot shoot.
- You can now select a banner that will be displayed on your career profile.
New tournaments:
- Xbox Cup (July 20 and 21). Total prize pool of $1,000,000, solo mode, and only for Xbox One.
- Team Cup (July 20 and 21). Total prize pool of $1,000,000, team mode, and only for players who have reached Champion League in Arena.
What’s changing in Creative Mode: In Creative Mode, you can rebuild the floating islands of Kevin the Cube and place balls.
The patch highlights from the update to patch 9.30 in PvE
For the 2nd birthday of Fortnite in PvE mode, there are birthday llamas packed with heroes and weapons from Fortnite events from the past year.
These general changes are coming:
- Quests, mission alerts, and rewards from daily logins will now give players who are not founders “X-ray tickets” instead of V-Bucks. Those with paid founder status will still receive V-Bucks. The times when you could earn a lot of free V-Bucks in PvE are probably over.
- There are special quests for the birthday, with which you can unlock the hero “Birthday Brigade-Jonesy”.
New hero – 8-Bit Demo: This hero, who wears out weapons less quickly, will return to the event shop starting July 18 at 2:00 AM.
